Complete Version of a classic TV movie
I saw this film when it came out on TV. Great effort for a "made for TV" movie. Years later when I bought the DVD version, I was disappointed that they cut out much of the movie. Now, I'm grateful they released the unedited version. Nice quality and a good price.

All quiet on the western front
A really good movie. Just as I remembered it. I watched it in school and having it again brought it all back. Everyone who is considering enlisting should watch movies like this before they make their descision. No matter if its WWI or today its the same thing. In war you kill or you kill others that wont change. Its how you live with that fact if you survive in the end. Many people enlist for the thrill and excitement of war and willingly go. Just as this movie and other movies like it shows, its not all the fun and glory that war is made out to be. I wanted to enlist myself. I wanted to see the world be part of something bigger then myself. Have the uniform the rank and the respect and maybe a few medals. Yes I would look nice smart and stunning in my uniform its true. I love the military dont get me wrong my family served in Vietnam and other places. But Ive never asked my uncles what they did over there. Im told not to. All I know is that every one of them served in combat and none of them have ever spoken of it to this day. Make your descision but just know what your'e getting into and if you can live with it. God Bless our troops come home soon.

All Quiet on the Western Front. Decent Remake. Does not match The Original Film.
This is a decent remake. However I also have the original that truly stands out above and beyond this version. Lewis Milestone was able to truly depict the horrors of WW I, if available, I sincerely recommend purchasing it.

My Favorite Version
Have always loved this story, and this production is, in my opinion, the best of the 20th century offerings. Top-notch acting by a strong cast effectively immerses the viewer in this story about the horror and futility of war, and the cost of armed conflict borne by rank-and-file soldiers and their families.

Not a bad remake but watch the original.
As far as remakes go it is not bad, Earnest Bognine as Kat is memorable. The 1930 version is much more intense and is still my favorite. Also in the 1930 version they evidently didn't have to worry about OSHA inspectors judging from the size of the explosions and nearness to the actors.
