    Shocking the Wine World

    A fictional treatment based on the 1976 Wine tasting in Paris that put California winemakers on the same stage as the more universally renowned French producers. Top notch preformances from Dennis Farina and Alan Rickman coupled with understated roles for Bill Pullman and Chris Pine make this an enjoyable flick. Rachel Taylor and Eliza Dushku as eye candy don't hurt either. It seems that certain details of the story were changed in the retelling, characters were replaced and invented. Since this was not a documentary but a underdog's tale I found that the literary license was not a hinderance to making this a movie to watch again. It made me want to find out more about the wine tasting and the wineries involved. Any film that interests the audience to find out more about ...

    Entertaining narrative about the 1976 Paris wine tasting event that finally put California wines on the world's map. It was the United States' Bicentennial in 1976, and a struggling British Wine Shop owner in Paris is desperately trying to do anything to help his business survive. Also, in order to bolster his position with the French he comes up with an idea to sponsor a blind wine tasting competition between the best French wines and California wines, 'if he can find any that are drinkable!' Just like the French, he is a total wine snob, and convinced that he won't find anything good, he comes to the Napa Valley to search for some "drinkable wines".     this is a great movie (imho)....i love chris pine and eliza dushku..... *what did you expect? thunderbird?*.....just because we're rednecks doesn't mean we can't make a pretty good bottle of wine!!

    (Don't drink and drive, please.) Great features

    i liked the movie but two times one of the actors used God's name in vain; that i did not like. Otherwise i thought the movie was very good and was glad to see that America made it into the world wine industry of taste and quality.
