Tale of Despereaux
My third grade daughter was reading this in school and she said she really liked it so I got a softcover copy through scholastic books. It was fantastic! We loved the way the author speaks directly to the reader and explains some of the more significant words and emotions that are in the book. We have read it twice already and I just had to get the hard cover to keep forever. I imagine that they will make a movie of this book; it's a beautiful story! Charming tale for all ages
I bought this book to read to my students as a read-aloud book. I heard it was being made into a movie so I wanted to introduce them to real literature before Hollywood got a hold of it. The story is rich in language for little listening ears. It has all the adventure little kids want and weaves some valuable life lessonss in. Kate DiCamillo is such a brillant writer and this book did receive one of the highest awards in children's literature. Don't wait. Buy this book now so you'll have the real story before the movie release in late 2008.I bought this book to read to my students as a read-aloud book. The Tale of Despereaux
I purchased this book as a gift for a student of mine who is learning English. I chose the book for it's theme of "courage" because I believe it takes a lot of courage and determination to learn another language and function in it within an academic setting. Although I have not personally read the entire story, I am familiar with the gist of it and all the reviews I've seen have been very positive. The other selling point was that this particular student loves animals of all types.I purchased this book as a gift for a student of mine who is learning English. Well-written engaging story
Great book! My 8-year-old/3rd grader and I both love it. Lots of new vocabulary so he's learning a lot and it's great well-written story. He reads it out loud to me and I'm also enjoying the story.
