NO SDH
I had looked forward to viewing this film then to discover that it had no SDH/CC available. I would also suggest that eBay figure a way to note whether or not films have SDH. As it is now, there is no convenient way to determine that essential service. There are other films I would like to have from eBay but cannot waste the money to just give the film to our local library

WONDERFUL WWII LOVE STORY BASED ON ACTUAL EVENTS
This mini series was made by an for Canadian Broadcasting Company, telling the true story of how Hudson A-29 bombers were flown by civilian American and Canadian fliers to England by way of Gander, Newfoundland. This was the first time American-built heavy aircraft were delivered to the British by this then dangerous route to avoid their losses on ships that were being regularly sunk by German U-boats. The story begins in eastern Canada with cheeky American boy meeting self-confident Newfoundland office girl. She is secretly recruited by the RAF to return home to Gandor for helping to manage the transport operation of Hudson bombers through the then only serious airport in the mid Atlantic. Meanwhile, the American is trained to fly the bombers on the very dangerous route through ... The Gandor airport is operated by a former boyfriend of the girl who is sophisticated in engineering and modern music in spite of his seeming isolation from the rest of the world. Tension in the story is generated by questions such as: can the young pilots safely get the airplanes to England in spite of dangers of distance, navigation problems, and bad weather? Will the American flier or Newfoundlander airport manager get the girl in the end? How is Winston Churchill dealing with his various war ministers who are brutally divided on the effectiveness of the massive transport of badly needed bombers by flying them to England rather than risk them lost on torpedoed transport ships. A great deal of authenticity was put into making of this movie. Most World War II generation viewers will enjoy it -- especially if they have some Canadian connection. I have two such friends who in their words "thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this movie."

Blend of Little-Known History and Personal Drama
I purchased this DVD because I'm a WWII buff and this movie promised to cover a little-known aspect of the war. The movie was a little more focused on the personal drama than I expected but made the movie easier for me to sit through. Those expecting a historical documentary will be disappointed. The personal drama side of the movie combines conflict and romance. In the end, the story takes an unexpected twist. I enjoyed this movie, it's a keeper.I purchased this DVD because I'm a WWII buff and this movie promised to cover a little-known aspect of the war.
