Product Information

Midway opens the vaults to its classic coin-op library for the release of Arcade Treasures, a compilation of 22 quarter-munching hits dating back to 1981. The library, which includes titles from Williams Entertainment as well as Atari Games, offers a mix of genres. Racing games include RoadBlasters, Super Sprint, Spy Hunter, and Toobin'. Fans of classic shooters will be able to play Defender II (aka Stargate), Robotron: 2084, Blaster, Smash T.V., SiniStar, Vindicators, Gauntlet, and Satan's Hollow. Puzzle games include the medieval Rampart and the tile-sorting action of Klax. 720°, Rampage, Joust, Joust 2, Paperboy, Marble Madness, and SPLAT! round out the list of featured titles. Games are playable with one or two players, and all support analog control as an option. Also included in the compilation are creator and developer interviews as well as game histories.

    Midway Arcade Treasures

    If you've ever wasted time in a video arcade back in the 80's, then chances are you've played more than 1/2 of the games featured on this disk. A real trip down memory lane. I would have liked to see the atari 2600 version of some of these, because the atari version would have been easier to play. Plus, spy hunter is a great game, but the arcade version had the 'tv' set vertically instead of horizontally like a normal tv. Which gave you more time to react. That little flaw aside, this title gives a tremendous blast from the past. A good test of reaction times and eye hand coordination. Had to figure out that I needed to change the location of the controller for gauntlet and rampage so that I could play other characters.     One Of The Best Collection Of Classic Games

    I would love to give this game a perfect score of 5 out of 5. However I had to reduce the score due to saving to the memory card issue. I loved reliving the perfect arcade games of my times like Spy Hunter, Smash TV, And rampage. However both Rampage and Smash TV takes a while to deafeat them. You cannot save your progess during the game, you either have to sit there and finish the game, or just give up. Another problem is from the controller. For games Like Robrotron & Smash tv, a second joy stick would have been helpful, because you move your character with the Left joy stick, and shoot the bad guys by moving the right joystick to the direction you want to fire at. Now lets get to the price. 20 games for $19.99, How in the world can you beat that price. This comes in as my ...

    Oldies But Goodies and Not Just For Single Players

    Some of the funnest games ever made by Midway are included on this Gamecube disc. The best experience you can have playing it is with two or three other players depending on the game. Three player games include such classics like Super Sprint, Rampage and one of my personal favorites, Rampart which is a competetive strategy-base game similar to Tetris. Gauntlet is the only four-player cooperative game included but of course is a lot of fun to play. Although all the games are multi-player, they can however be played along with the other 22 classic games in single-player mode which includes Paper Boy, Spy Hunter, Defender and many more. This is certainly a must-have for the coin-operated arcade enthusiast and the future fan alike that will no doubt supply countless hours of game play.

    Straightforward and Well Presented

    Only thing that this package really needs is to be available on a more modern platform. The newer, similarly titled remakes are inferior.

    Great nostalgic value

    The games are as much fun to play as ever. There are lots of titles, but my faves Gauntlet and Smash TV play just like they did in arcades on a Wii, if you have the gamecube controllers.
