Best vampire book....ever
....but this is the best "real" vampire book, ever. Don't buy if you are into Dracula, but buy if you want to know why people of ancient times, and through the Middle Ages, and even sometimes today, thought that people who were buried or dead could possibly be vampires. The author goes into details that are definitely not for the weak. I have read many forensic books that he mentions - "skin slippage" the most prominent one - but he does not go into a ton of detail or have pictures of this. I recommend reading a forensic science book on body decomposition to understand the full extent of what the author talks about. A picture is worth a thousand words. This is the only problem I had with the book - those who do not know about these terms or who have not seen pictures of these phenomenon ... ....but this is the best "real" vampire book, ever. Other than that this book is amazing. The author also footnotes nearly ever detail, so it is a jumping off point to dozens and dozens of other books and sources that can be read on the subject. Definitely a good read for anyone who wants to see the truth about vampires.

I believe any folklore class would be enriched by this book!
This book is required reading for an anthropology class (Folklore). So far there isn't anything that I dislike regarding the product.
