A great value for money camera, let down only by its innacurate exposures.
I bought this camera after reading all the reviews, and most were pretty good. However the odd complaints people had about the HS20 were well founded. The autofocus does not always work on the subject first time, it sometimes needs a second go, but this is not a major problem. The worst thing is the fact that it hardly ever seems to get the exposure correct, when trying to photograph motorsport action I had to set the compensation to under expose by a stop or two to correct it. It can focus fairly quick so the pictures are pretty good, especially when panning. I used continuous auto focus. The other thing that lets it down is the limited aperture control, only going to F8 is a bit of a let down on a bright day as the speed has to be so high, making it difficult to get any impression of ... I was photographing drifters and even the spinning rear wheels were frozen in time! Sometimes fast speed is not what we want. It also limits the artistic effects of bluring moving water in waterfalls etc, although I guess a neutral density filter could help with that. I am also surprised by the features and number of settings, far more than I used to have on my OM20 Olympus 35mm, and maybe a few too many for a bridge camera, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of them all eventually. The 30x zoom is fantastic and more than enough to get in close to the action. I love the manual zoom because I can turn the camera off and back on without losing the position and saves a lot of battery power. Incidentally I spent about 6 hours taking pictures and never changed the batteries. I was using Nimh batteries. The camera feels good in the hand and has a quick response, and if using the auto settings it is easy enough to use. so I think despite the little niggles it is a great camera for the money, the zoom is hard to match and top brand cameras like canon etc are way above my budget as it would have to be a full DSLR to get some of the features this Fuji has. It would be good if Fuji could give us an update to make the exposures more accurate, but that is the only thing I would change. Well maybe a higher res viewfinder as it is a bit difficult to judge the focusing accurately when using it rather than the LCD screen.

Very good starter camera before moving on to a DSLR
I bought this camera since I was downgrading from a Canon EOS 500D DSLR and wanted a camera that still has the same functions, but is a little more compact and without the hassle of carrying around a set of lenses. The Fujifilm cameras are the only ones that have the DSLR feel - manual zoom and focus rings. Likes: great lens, very versatile, flash hot shoe, great tilting screen, easy access to the most important functions - ISO, metering, EV corrections Dislikes: very small sensor - almost every picture has visible noise, especially at ISO 400 and higher, limited apperture, battery compartment door feels loose despite the solid build of the rest of the camera, flash TTL support is only for Fuji's flashes Overall the camera is very good for any photography enthusiast, lacking some of the ... Best value deal for this quality of camera.
The camera arrived and was in decent condition. I had watched video reviews and read a couple and the camera was exactley as it was stated to be. Can have very high image quality for a bridge camera, struggles with auto focus some time and the auto features can be inconsistant. But using the manual features you can get some great shots.

A "Bridge" for all.
I bought this camera as I had been looking for a DSLR but found them too expensive and I was impressed with the features of this bridge camera. I was drawn to this camera as the zoom was adjusted at the lens and not an electronic button which I have always found awkward. I bought this just 2 weeks before needing it to take on holiday. I played about with it at home but it exceeded expectations when it was used "in anger". My only qualm with it is when looking at the screen in bright sunlight it is hard to see and needs to be shaded.I bought this camera as I had been looking for a DSLR but found them too expensive and I was impressed with the features of this bridge camera. Fuji hs20exr back into photography
