Silver-screen giant Clark Gable plays General K.C. (Casey) Dennis, a man determined to destroy the production of a new German jet plane via precision aerial bombings during daylight hours. Walter Pidgeon plays his superior officer, General Roland Kane, a man all too aware that military bosses in D.C. are looking over their shoulders to determine whether daylight bombing is effective. To boot, Dennis is consistently dogged by newspaperman Elmer Brockhurst, who reports back to the home front regarding the heavy economic and manpower losses that result from Dennis's orders. Soon Dennis finds his tactics directly opposed by Arthur Malcolm (Edward Arnold), a powerful congressman, and General Kane ceases to support Dennis.There are no combat scenes in COMMAND DECISION. Instead, the script brilliantly supplies an insightful examination of the politics of war and the insides of a man brutalized by them. Gable turns in a fine performance, which is easy to miss amid the brilliance that surrounds it--Van Johnson, Walter Pidgeon, and Edward Arnold all shine in COMMAND DECISION.

Classic War Drama
I have been searching for this title since I saw it on cable.Clark Gable portrays a general with the problem of German Jet Fighter production against his obsolete B-17 fleet.Despite being villified for heavy losses and threatened with courtmartial,he continues attacks against the factories knowing that if they get airborne that nothing will stop them.Even his best friend eventually understands his determination and why his staff think he's a hero for taking the fight to the enemy.Once relieved of command,he dreams of seeing family and friends,but special orders come in giving him another combat assignment,once more the warhorse is back in action.With his relief finally understanding the pressure of a "Command Decision"and the mental pressure involved.One of the B-29's involved in the ... The title was the story. American bombers over Germany in WW II
Solid cast. Really gripping and entertaining film depicting the air war over Germany in WW II. A black-and-white film using fictional bomber base names and German targets but conveys how stressful it was to complete the 25 missions which would send a crew home.

Great Classic Movie:
If you love War movies, it is one to add to your war movie collection. Couldn't quit watching, my family just love. DVD in great shape and delivered in great timing.

A must watch for all military leaders and future leaders.
This is as applicable today as it was in WWII. It is a must watch for all military officers. It is also applies to the corporate world as well. There are a lot of valuable leadership lessons in this movie.

Two different studios, two excellent big-name casts, both about high-level command experiences in USAAF daylight bombing.
