Product Information

The wealthy owner of a haunted mansion believes his home (which has been dubbed "Hell House" due to a history of bizarre happenings therein) might provide the answer to the phenomenon of life after death. To prove his theory, he enlists the help of four brave psychic investigators whom, to acquire the situation in it's entirety, set up residence in the dark and mysterious abode. Soon after, the team are nearly driven to insanity as they slowly begin to discover how the mansion got it's gloomy moniker. An atmospheric and menacing film from the director of EYEWITNESS (1971).

The Legend of Hell House
This is an old school thriller and that's a good thing. The story follows the book by Richard Matheson pretty closely and that is also a good thing. When you have good actors and a good story under good direction, it is hard to go wrong. This would have been given an excellent rating if it involved more of the sub plots from the book(I would also recommend reading the book, it is awesome). The plot revolves around a team of four who are paid by a wealthy, dying man to investigate whether or not there is any truth to life after death. This "truth is to be found in the Belasco house(Hell House)which is thought to be haunted. The team is made up of a mental and physical medium, a scientist and the scientists' wife. Each member of the team has their own reasons for taking on the "house" and ... This is an old school thriller and that's a good thing. Terror, intrigue, death, madness, lust,,,are the orders that are served in Hell House...If you enjoy this film, I would also reccomend "The Changeling" with George C. Scott.
