  • Need more equipment for the game? Here is a solution!

This companion adds (more and new) weapons and equipment (including mounts and hirelings) to game - both magical and non-magical. The ideas and possiblities presented in the book are plentiful. The "negative" aspects that made this book just good (thus non excellent): - the random charts for magical items presented in this book cover *only* items from this book - thus there is no linkage / expansion to any tables from the basic game - i.e. the DM has to weave all those new items into the game and make sure that they really become part of the game (still this is doable, but I would have appreciated some kind of "master-list"(s) - and finally there are three books in total: weapons of legacy, arms and equipment, magic item compendium - this makes the organisational aspect for me as a DM ...

  • Mercurial Fullblade = Powergamer's Dream

This book has a lot of materiel options for players in a Dungeons and Dragons 3.0 game. Unfortunately this book is abused on a regular basis for a single item: the fullblade (AKA, "ogre's greatsword"). Most people buying this book go for the fullblade, to take advantage of the massive damage output. They go an extra step further and add the mercurial quality--one that adds extra damage due to the application of fluid dynamics in fantasy weapons. More often than not, these types of folks ignore the massive stacking penalties of using an oversized weapon and also ignore the version this is from--Dungeons and Dragons 3.0--and try to get the DM/GM running the game to agree to this kind of broken gaming material, sight unseen and without penalty. I bought this book with the intent of being ...

  • Not great

If you're looking for another 3.X splat book, this one has some good content. The section of the new equipment is useful. Other than that it's not a top 10 must have book for D&D. If you can get it cheap, it's worth reading. If you want to collect as many 3.X books as you can, than you'll want it. If you just want 5 or so great books in addition to the basics, than you'll want to pass on this book.

  • Arms and Equipment Guide

Want to spice up your DND campaign? How about adding an encounter in which the adventuring party needs to use ornithopters to escape a dracolich? Or give them an axebeak to ride into battle! Perhaps the half-orc barbarian wants something a little greater than a greataxe? Give him a mercurial greatsword or a fullblade! Despite how short this book appears, it has tons of equipment in it, and a lot of it is good old-fashioned fun. It's got weapons, vehicles, mounts, tools, guard animals, and even information on hirelings. There's definitely something for just about anyone in this book that'll make their character stand out and have the NPC's say, "That guy's got some cool stuff!" Now, although there's plenty of stuff that's founded in reality like khopeshes, a lot of it is fanciful ...

  • One of the best D&D suppliments ever - get one for yourself!

This book is an example of an excellent supplement to just about any D&D campaign. While a campaign could get along fine without it, this tome adds a great deal of flavor as well as plenty of new equipment. Those who remember Aurora's Catalog will recognize it as a source for many of the items included in this book and could easily be used to replicate her shops in their world. Maybe not a must have, but IMO a should have.
