With CLUB DREAD, the twisted minds behind 2001's surprise hit comedy SUPER TROOPERS return with a machete and more laughs. This time, the Broken Lizard troupe--Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske--send up two genres at once, combining the spring break romp with the gory slasher picture. It's spring break on Pleasure Island, Costa Rica, and bikini-clad revelers have just landed to spend the next week partying their days and nights away. There's Dave (Soter), the drug-wielding DJ; Putman (Chandrasekhar), the ambiguously accented tennis instructor; Juan (Lemme), the diving guru; Sam (Stolhanske), the Fun Sheriff; Lars (Heffernan), the incredibly gifted masseur; and Coconut Pete (Bill Paxton), the flaky island guru. Then there is Jenny (Brittany Daniel), the gorgeous aerobics instructor, and newcomer Penelope (Jordan Ladd), who falls under the spell of Juan. Unfortunately, someone else has arrived on the island with a machete and a severe dislike for several of the camp's residents. As the blood begins to flow, and flow, and keep flowing, everyone becomes a suspect, until no one can trust anyone else. Directed with a casual touch by Chandrasekhar, CLUB DREAD proves that Broken Lizard is a very talented group of performers with the ability to find humor in the least likely of places.

    Adult oriented scooby doo meets murder she wrote!

    This movie is the product of the same genius comedic minds that brought us Super Troopers. THAT in and of it's self is saying alot. The premise is a mystery style (scooby doo) hunt for a killer on a fantasy island type getaway. Much like the new scooby doo live action movies. However, where those movies drench you in weirdness, spookiness, and weird neon green colors, this movie is more realistic, with actual murders taking place, and clues being left all around. The movie is rated R for a reason, many topless scenes, and some very sexual references, so this is in no way a family film, or even appropriate for anyone under 16 or so. If Scooby doo and club dread were batman movies, SD would be batman forever, and CD would be batman returns.

    Campy fun

    The cast from Lizard (Super Troopers) was once again dealing out the laughs in this murder spoof, although sometimes it was gruesome, it had the laugh factor that made everything ok again, co staring one of my favorites ,Britney Daniels, (Joe Dirt) I found it a needed purchase for my collection as I really love the humor these guys preform, wish I knew if they had more films I would rate it a 6 out of 10

    Diamond in the rough (if you like this kind of diamond)

    This movie is hilarious, hands down. It's the perfect combination of scary horror and ridiculous comedy. Truly, this is how Broken Lizard, the creators of SuperTroopers and BeerFest, won my heart forever. I recommend it, even though nearly all of my friends think I'm crazy for loving it. If you're like me at all, you'll find it brilliant; if not, you'll find it inane. If you can find it for the great price I found it on eBay (less than $5), I strongly recommend you give it a try.

    Lots of laughs!

    Excited to find this old gem on dvd, and I don’t store dvds in boxes, so dvd in just a sleeve was perfect!
