Book looked fine on the outside but literally every single page inside had half the words circled in pen! So annoying it’s actually hard to read. I notified the seller and was given a refund but more accurate listings and descriptions would be preferred.

Great show responsible for a generation of anime fans
The year was 1986. I remember waking up every morning before school at 6:00 a.m. just to watch Robotech. This show was different from any other cartoon that was on TV at the time. For a 12 year old fan of science fiction, this show was the coolest thing on TV. We have a war taking place with giant aliens, battling humans in jets, that could transform into giant robots. I have no idea how I found out about this show, I just know it was like I was watching all of my favorite cartoons at the same time. G.I. Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Starblazers, and Star Wars were all represented at one time by this one show...Robotech. It was like a soap opera for kids. There were no stand alone episodes. The storyline was continuous. This cartoon treated kids like young adults. This cartoon ... The year was 1986. I remember waking up every morning before school at 6:00 a.m. just to watch Robotech. Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Starblazers, and Star Wars were all represented at one time by this one show...Robotech. It was like a soap opera for kids. There were no stand alone episodes. The storyline was continuous. This cartoon treated kids like young adults. This cartoon didn't assume that you wouldn't remember what took place three episodes prior to the one you were currently watching. Even though no one would admit it, everyone who watched it back then had their idea who Rick Hunter should choose, Minmay or Lisa. (I chose Lisa by the way.) There have been a few different DVD releases of Robotech, but this box set combines the DVD's of Robotech Remastered with the 7 Extras DVD's of Robotech the Legacy Collection. This is the best of the best in my humble opinion. You get the digitally remastered shows with a cleaner look, better sound and some extra footage. You also get the extras from the Legacy Collection which include toy commercials (which are some of the silliest commercials ever, boy were the 80's rough on kids), the movie Robotech: the Sentinels (which I'm sure a lot of folks would rather forget) and a lot of the original promo material for the show. The show itself spans three series (basically generations in the Robotech universe) and consists of 85 episodes. If you're a fan of Robotech, then this is the best combination that you can buy, you get all three series (Robotech, The Masters, and The New Generation) plus the previously mentioned extras in one box set. If you're just getting into anime, then this is a good starting point. You get a solid introduction into the world of anime, plus you may get an understanding as to why this series is so beloved. Just imagine you're twelve years old watching fighter jets and flying tanks transform into giant robots, motorcycles transform into armor for soldiers who are firing lasers at giant aliens. Aliens who are flying their own giant robots and giant warships attempting to conquer the world in search of "Protoculture". What could be cooler than that?

stands up to the test of time really really well!
I remembed Robotech being the first cartoon that was "soap opera-ish" (in a good way); I used to look forward to coming home from school and watching the next episode in the story - I was hooked! Never became a huge anime fan afterwards or anything - I was more about the sci-fi + cool fights angle - but a few years ago I rented the discs of The Macross Saga via an online DVD rental company, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was still more than 'watchable': I was hooked all over again! Ever since then I've been looking to buy this "Protoculture" collection, but was waiting for a.) the price to become 'right' (for me), and b.) for my own kids to grow up enough to be able to watch it with me. If you're like me, and your kids are into this sort of thing, it's a great bunch of ... I don't remember much back then when I was 12 years old but I do remember Robotech. I used to rushed it home from school just to sit in fron of the set watch another exciting episode. I felt it had the best story line of any cartoon at the time. Basically it was addictive. Now I'm much older and when I found out that they still had robotech stuff I got just as excited as when I was a kid. When I came across this Protoculture Collection on ebay I knew I had to have it no matter what. Now everyday when I come home from work I once again watch a new episode. I was really impressed with the case and the quality of the picture as well as sound. Only thing I don't like is that it's a little hard to remove the DVD from it's case, you have to be extra careful because it seems they'll easilly ... Robotech - Tranferformers with purpose
Every TV show we watched as kids holds something for us. Robotech was one of those shows.you just want to watch and play too. This set is the 'American' version of the show(s) and it's at best a (9) out of a (10) compared to the original source. There are varying opinions about this but really they're two different sets. They did this with 'Voltron' and people really don't seem to be "TOO" vocal about those shows and where they came from which is a bit hypocritical. For me I love them all... I will own them all... and I will watch them all.... why? Because I'm a fan and a big kid at heart. This set is by far the most recommended of the Robotech sets out there as it;s the closets to the original TV run they have. The Robotech remastered protoculture collection is great for anyone that injoyed or wants to enjoy robotech and learn more about how this series came to america. even though it is actually three Japanese series unrelated to each other Carl Macek rewrite and tied these show together to make a great experience that also pioneered Japanese animation to the United states. it includes the robotech II movie called sentinels that was made for America to help tie all three series together but lost budget and never made it television.
