Created by Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco (CRASH), the gritty NBC drama series THE BLACK DONNELLYS follows the troubled lives of four Irish-American Catholic siblings. Their story is told from the unreliable viewpoint of their incarcerated friend, Joey Ice Cream (Keith Nobbs). The brothers are involved in organized crime in New York's Hell's Kitchen, where the rivalry between the Irish and Italian clans is rife. Tommy Donnelly (Jonathan Tucker) tries to make amends for his brothers's wrongdoings, until Jimmy makes a fatal mistake that has disastrous consequences for the family.

The Black Donnellys: The Complete Series
This is one of the best shows that has run on basic cable in the last 20 years. It was a drama based on an Irish American family that values the love of family above all else. The show is based on four Irish brothers who cause havoc by starting a mob war with the Italians as well as the Irish mob in New York City. This show was unbelievable entertaining and ended with only one season. Though the season leaves many questions unanswered. Any network who is hurting for rating should pick this show back up and get the writers to start working on this again. Such a good Drama Series
This show only lasted 1 short season 10-11 shows. It's about a dysfunctional family with 4 grown brothers, one of which has to take care of the others because they are always doing something foolish. They are in their own small gang and they have to compete with the Italians. This is not your ordinary Mafia gang type show.

Entertaining
I saw this as a preview and thought it was interesting. I was right. It had suspense, romance, humor, and violence all tied up in a neat bow. And characters you actually cared about. (Also I was amazed at how many actors I knew from Law & Order:Criminal Intent.) This was a good show. Too bad it only lasted 13 episodes.

It was a great tv show, i am sad that they canceled it. It did not get a fair chance, the season started off with a bang then slowed for an episode or two but picked up for the remaining episodes which didn't even make it to TV. The finale was amazing, i just wish we got to see what happened in season 2. It is no shocker that they canceled the show, when they put a new show up against shows like prison break, Heroes, and CSI:Miami which has a solid fan base then they wont steal any of their viewers.It was a great tv show, i am sad that they canceled it. The Fun of Having Brothers
The Black Donnellys was only around for one season, but is one of the best tv shows to highlight what its like to have brothers. Anyone who has grown up Irish-American, with a large family, will appreciate the comraderie between the 4 young men and, of course, the one best friend who wishes he was a brother. While focusing on organized crime in an Irish neighborhood, the show is less about killing and robbing; and more about the lengths that one must go for one's family.
