The description commences with an account of the nature of vibration and its effects on the human body and metals. Many illustrations show the effect of vibration on structures and the methods employed by engineers to suppress unwelcome oscillations. In the second edition of Vibration, Professor Bishop has added two further sections. One is the behaviour of ships in waves and the other on the effects of transient vibration. Based on this experience and that of others (read their feedback), did not try to order the new listing, just looked elsewhere.
