If you are fan of super-heroes then this will be an added welcome to your collection. What is significant about Ms. Marvel is that she was the first 'feminist' super-heroine for Marvel comics. DC already had Wonder Woman for years, and although Marvel had characters like Sue Storm (invisible girl) and The Wasp to name a few, most were not feature characters nor were they as headstrong as Ms. Marvel. Ms. Marvel was was one to plow through and ask questions later, not sit on the sidelines when things got too tough and call for some male muscle. This collection of her series focuses on the origins of Ms. Marvel as super-heroine, but also her alter-ego Carol Danvers as she makes her way into the male dominated world of publishing. Given the time period of the early seventies this ... If you are fan of super-heroes then this will be an added welcome to your collection. Given the time period of the early seventies this was groundbreaking and timely. Especially for comics. It looks like around issue 23 and 24 things were not panning out, in fact sales were so dismal that issue 24 was not even published which made 23 the final issue and readers wondering "What Happened?!". It wasn't until years later that Marvel published the final story arc in a few specials. I have to say though, as much as I like the character and some of the story ideas, some of the writing was not at it's best and the book gets mired down in too much Slam,Bam,Wham action. Which may be appealing to some, but less is more in my opinion. I would have preferred more storyline which is why I liked Spider-Woman so much. It is a fun read, however, and interesting to look back at how far we've come in terms of social thought, and comic book writing.
