Sony ICD-SX700
This is a great recorder. It is capable of recording in near CD quality, albeit for limited time. I use it to record in MP3 format, which still sounds great, but allows much longer recording time. I'm amazed by its capabilities in such a small package. For recording live musical performances, the Olympus LS-10 has even better audio specifications and uses SDHC flash memory to extend recording time; but it costs more than twice as much. If your primary use is to record voice (your own, a conference, or a lecture), this recorder is hard to beat.This is a great recorder. Sony ICD-SX700 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder
This recorder seems to work great. I won't know just how great until classes start at the end of the month. I got it to record lectures for my Anatomy and Physiology classes. The only draw back with the recorder is that there is no stand to use while recording like what is in the picture inside the manual. You have to use the larger one that you use to charge the batteries on. As for the software, if you are not a computer wiz like me and have no idea what a 64-bit 0r 32-bit operating system is then you will have issues. Neither software is set up to run on a 64-bit operating system and that is what I have. Dragon does offer a free downloadable upgrade but you have to have the serial number and there is not one on the envelope or the package since all it came with was the disk in a plain ... Sony ICD-SX700 (1 GB) Handheld Digital Voice Recorder
Before the choral concert, I wanted to record the concert live with a simple hand-held digital voice/music recorder, and I bought this SONY ICD-SX700. The recording of the choral concert in the 1000 people auditorium was good. There wasn't much difference in recording quality by either wave mode of recording or MP3 mode. 2 hours of concert was no problem to record continuously with just 2 AAA battery. Downloading the wave/mp3 files to PC is of standard and easy. Very light wight and handy to keep in pocket. Good price. Good Sony Quality
I saw it in a store, but felt it to be slightly expensive and so when I got this good deal in eBay I decided to buy it. The performance of the recorder was good, as expected. However, one disappointment I had was that the purchase I made online did not come with the Cradle (Stand Accessory). For a minute I did think if it was better to pick up any item directly from the store rather than purchasing online, even though it would be slightly expensive.
