Comic actor Jim Carrey plays it (mostly) straight for this smart satire from director Peter Weir (DEAD POETS SOCIETY). The life of Truman Burbank (Carrey) has been broadcast around the world with tremendous success since the day he was born. A star for the mere fact that he exists, Truman has no idea that there are cameras in every corner of his world. But soon, cracks begin to show in the constructed world, and Truman questions his existence while everyone around him is in on the joke. Weir directs a fine cast, including Laura Linney as Truman's wife and Ed Harris as the show's director. Screenwriter Andrew Niccol also added interesting twists to the scripts for S1M0NE and GATTACA.

I just received this and three other films i ordered from this vendor. I have not bought from them before and to say my reaction is positive is an understatement. Each film was individually wrapped the place in a box and wrapped in bubble wrap, then place in a hoping carton. I have never had any shipment of anything packed so carefully. I am definitely going back to this seller in the future!

Unfortunately my package was never delivered. Tracking showed label created awaiting pickup. After contacting the seller a search was initiated and ultimately a full refund was issued. Extremely helpful and apologetic seller. I would order from them again.

Not Your Typical Jim Carrey!
I didn't think I would like the Truman Show. I was expecting Jim Carrey over the top humour and contorted faces. I was wrong. Really wrong! The Truman Show is the epitome of "reality shows" (and hopefully our own reality shows will never go as far). Truman grows up as the unknowing star of his own reality show. Everything is television, and nothing is real-- even though it's real to Truman. Jim Carrey is brilliant as Truman, and Ed Harris plays the steely and yet passionate producer/director/'god' watching over Truman. I liked this movie because it really showed off some of the uglier parts of what television can be, but also made distinct that the beautiful parts of our lives, like love, are real no matter what. Give this movie a shot. It's dramatic and moving and funny, and NOT you ... I didn't think I would like the Truman Show. I was expecting Jim Carrey over the top humour and contorted faces. One of Carrey's best performances.
Took me to watch 2x before I totally understood the plot. Seems Truman (Jim Carrey) is clueless as to what is going on until a woman he meets captivates him and he becomes a bit obsessive about finding her again. He's married, in a very odd world and the object of his affections is the only link to reality he sees. One watches Truman and feels he's the only one who hasn't gotten it yet, but when he finally does, he tries his best to leave, without success, well, until the very end when he finally does. The exit is expected and naturally it's a feel good movie, but, man, what a journey getting there! Movie is slow starting but, it does redeem itself midway through and the ending is worth watching.Took me to watch 2x before I totally understood the plot. Best Movie I've seen in my life.
I I Like Jim Carrey and also because the movie is celebrating 20 years it was a good price and a good price. Thumbs Up for me on this movie and the purchase of this movie.
