Dystopia Revelation
Okay, I haven't been following the band since their inception, but this CD ranks The Disturbed among the greats of metal and rock. I picked up this CD for two reasons. First, Phil Collins is a terrific songwriter, but "Land of Confusion" REALLY needed to be covered by a group with the guts and gristle to convey the disgust with our current policymakers. Disturbed is the band who delivered on the promise of this song. Second, "Ten Thousand Fists" is the rally song this country has needed for eight long years (please excuse the political commentary). This song didn't receive even one-tenth of the radio play it deserved. The other songs on the album are also adrenaline-laden and electric, though I can't pick one which stands out more than another. ... Very Impressive
This is the first Disturbed CD that I have purchased. I heard a couple of their radio songs and decided to give this CD a whirl and I am very glad I did. The singer's voice is perfectly suited to this genre of music. He can yell, shout, growl, sing, and keep a melody going nicely. The guitar work is excellent throughout the album. Contrasting what some others have said, this album by Disturbed is not rap/rock. They are rock/metal only here. Rap/rock is Crossfade, it's Limp Bizkit, it's Thousand Foot Krutch. But Disturbed does not fall in this genre on this album. There is only one complaint I have about the album and that is that some of the songs do sound the same, especially after a few listens. However, the songs' lyrics are all very different, some ... This is the first Disturbed CD that I have purchased. Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists in the Air
I wanted to buy this because I really loved their first album, The Sickness. The first time I heard The Sickness on the radio, I made a point to remember who the artists were. Then I heard Stupefy! Wow! I was so blown away by the raw power of this music. When I got their next album, Believe, I was disappointed. The rawness was gone. The power was so carefully monitored. It wasn't the same kind of music. It seemed so polished and glam. Ten Thousand Fists is the same as Believe: polished and glam. What happened to Droppin' Plates and other crazy fits of musical psychosis? Now they are preachers? I don't like George Bush either, but I don't Deify him, and I'm not sure how this music is going to keep other people from doing that. None of this music is ... Disturbed's Best album
Disturbed is a very hardcore band who has come a long way, all the way from their first album The Sickness. I hate to tell you people but I would have to agree with plickplick22 on his review, This is not and I repeat NOT Rap/Metal. Whoever said that should be beaten with their own arm!!! Anybody who has ever heard this band knows better. Also to add to the mix this album is the best by far if I do say so myself. I have been a loyal Disturbed fan since the begining and I can honestly say this album is the topping on the cake with the guitar thrashes and the loud thumping of the drums. Believe was much better
So I finally got around to buying a copy of Ten Thousand Fists .... it's got Stricken and Land of Confusion those are the only two songs I really like the rest of the cd is weak, melodies are nowhere as strong as Believe which is one of my favorite hard rock cd's I like every song on Believe was hoping Ten Thousand Fist would be as good, NOPE !
