À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Tony Jaa follows in the powerful martial arts footsteps of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li in ONG-BAK: THE THAI WARRIOR, one of the first films to center on the ancient fighting system of Muay Thai, which utilizes the body's limbs to potentially devastating effect. Jaa stars as Ting, a quiet young man who lives in the peaceful village of Nong Pradu. As the village's special celebration approaches, a Bangkok villain named Don (Wannakit Siriput) steals the head of the Buddha statue Ong-Bak, which is said to protect the village from bad luck. Ting volunteers to go to the big city to bring back the head of Ong-Bak, but remembers what he was taught by sage monk Pra Cru (Woranard Tantipidok): he must not use his Muay Thai skills to harm people. However soon after arriving in Bangkok, Ting, a peaceful fish out of water, finds that the only way to recapture the village's sacred treasure is by using his arms, his legs--and his head.Influenced by the films of Thai action star Phanna Rithikrai, director Prachya Pinkaew hired the Muay Thai expert to serve as martial arts and stunt choreographer for ONG-BAK, resulting in highly effective and believable scenes between Ting and a multitude of criminals and evil boxers out to get him. Pinkaew adds a fun sense of humor to the serious story, not only in some of the crazy stunts but also in the character of George, played by Thai comic Petchthai Wongkamlao. Jaa is charmingly fearless in the lead role, performing all his own stunts without any special effects, computer enhancement, or ropes.

  • The incredible Mr. Jaa

This is not just an action packed movie. It has a good story with appealing characters (even the bad guys). Tony Jaa is incredible! He is an athlete, an acrobat and a fantastic performer in both martial arts and acting. This is an exciting movie, and one that is very well made.

  • You will rethink your view of fighting games

Tony Jaa redefines what's possible in martial arts. The creativity and skill of the fight choreography will reaffirm your faith in the "little guy" as he always seems to be taking on guys bigger and stronger than him. If you've ever played Tekken, Dead or Alive, or any other fighting video game, there is a suspension of disbelief when you see the digital character perform a complex fight combo. Even though the fighting style of the video game characters is often based on real life styles, the acrobatics or gravity defying moves often rank as unrealistic. After watching Ong-Bak, you will have to reevaluate which moves are pure fantasy. Tony Jaa actually does the Marshall Law backflip kick! Tony Jaa is definitely an up and coming martial arts actor who makes his first big debut to the ...

  • BEST MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE I SAW IN 2005

After seeing this movie in theaters with my father. We both agreed that Tony Jaa has serious Muay Thai skills. I went home and bought the movie from eBay in Thailand and have watched it about 20 times by now and I am still not bored with it. I borrowed the movie to friends at work because it can actually be enjoyed by the whole family. It is funny at times and extremely serious when it come to the action scenes. The sound is also really good. On the special features you can see Tony Jaa training for the scenes in the movie and it shows you how they choreograph the scenes. Just buy the movie for the fighting action and you won't be dissapointed. I completely recommend this movie. If you rent it you'll probably want to see it in the future again and will regret no buying it.

  • Pure Martial Arts Classic!

Background// I know many who enjoy watching Jackie Chan movies, Bruce Lee movies and even Jet Li movies are popular. But I have never seen such a consensus of greatness as I did from Ong-Bak. The moves here prove Tony Jaa is All-Star when it comes to Martial Arts and MVP in the Muai Thai area. All who see this movie will agree, Tony Jaa is to Martial arts, as Lebron James is to Basketball. Plot// In a small, farming, Thai Village a sacred Buddha Statue head is stolen and taken to Bangkok by a ruthless crime boss named Khom Tuan. The town is heart-broken and are all devestated, they send young Ting, an Orphaned youngster to return their precious Ong-Bak head. Ting is schooled in the deadly Nine Body Weapons system of Muai Thai and travels to the cruel streets of Bangkok to exact revenge ...
