Beatles - Ed Sullivan : 4 Complete Shows
The Beatles' appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 and 1965 helped catapult the band to stateside fame and fortune. Their debut performance alone was viewed by 73 million viewers. This collection compiles four full episodes containing 20 songs in total, and including other guests like Soupy Sales, Cab Calloway, and Cilla Black; and even commercial breaks. Shown in their original black and white, these episodes convey the feeling of a bygone era, while placing some of The Beatles' early appearances in a framework that shows how they eventually exploded as one of the most influential rock bands of all time. The four Beatles, with their fluffy mop-head haircuts and little black suits, look like fresh-faced kids as they stride nervously onto the stage in their first appearance ... The Beatles' appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 and 1965 helped catapult the band to stateside fame and fortune. Their debut performance alone was viewed by 73 million viewers. The last episode on this fascinating collection, September 12, 1965, shows how the band has changed after a year and a half--with longer hair, a loose and rebellious spirit, and a bolder stage presence. Through these classic television episodes, viewers of all eras can join the fab four as they begin their ascent into the musical history books, courtesy of the Ed Sullivan Show.

It’s Good, Not Fantastic
I was less than ten years old when these shows were originally aired. The Beatles clips are nicely cleaned up in comparison to other parts of the same disc(s), so I’m satisfied. I don’t believe there is anything much better you can buy than these (for that), and they are quite reasonably priced. The shows are for real fans, not the casually interested, but everyone who like the Beatles will enjoy those segments. The rest of the shows are anywhere from awful to OK, but today’s standards would date them quite lame. The old commercials are kinda cool, but you’ll likely tire of them easily. When Ed Suillvan introduced the Beatles on his show for the 1st time the world of music would never be the same. These iconic performances launched a cultural changed around the world the likes of which no one had seen before. A true cultural revolution would begin to take place. The Beatles knocked down bariers in all facets of life. They were true pioneers in just about everything they did. It all started on a Sunday night in early 1964 on the Ed Sullivan show !! Every serious Beatles fan should have this DVD in their collection.
Historic footage of The Beatles on their first visit to the U.S. Like many people my age, I saw this on TV as a child, so it's quite fun to finally own it!

Get this dvd!
Its one the greatest rock and roll statements. The Beatles are the greatest music act of all time! It shows them at their peak. Very entertaining and fun to watch. Their performances are powerful and they sound pretty to. Their first U.S. appearance nothing needs to be said that has not be said. The dvd is full of songs i knew of and songs i did not know where go to be there. It has extras to.
