Upgrade your current hard drive or add a second one as a backup or for extra storage with the WD10EACS Caviar Green 1TB internal hard disk drive (HDD). The process is easy to do yourself, cost-effective and increases your computer’s speed, performance, and the amount of data it stores. With the growing size of programs and the number of items people digitize, a 1TB drive offers an impressive amount of space. This drive holds more than 16,000 hours of digital music, more than 300,000 digital photos, 1,000 digital video hours and 250 2-hour DVD-quality movies. The form factor of the Western Digital 1TB hard drive is 3.5 inches, and it fits most Microsoft Windows and Apple operating systems in desktop computers. Even though the drive is small, it utilizes maximum areal density to store more data on the disks surface with perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology. Connect the WD10EACS internal drive to the motherboard with the SATA II, a cable that resembles a small USB. The PC automatically recognizes the drive when it interfaces with the SATA. With the SATA II, the hard disk transfers data at a rate of 3Gb/s. Even if you are only adding a second drive, always back up your data to another storage device before unplugging the SATA. If any damage occurs during this process, you don’t want to lose files. After connecting the WD10EACS, slide it into the first slot for replacing an old one or the second spot for a backup drive. The drive should fit tight into the slot to prevent it from moving inside the tower. The Western Digital Caviar Green hard drive offers more than space. It improves performance with 7,200 revolutions per minute (RPM.) This determines the hard disk’s mechanical latency or the average time it takes the spindle inside the WD10EACS to complete a full search. This Western Digital HDD comes with a mean latency of 5.6ms, and an average seek time of 8.9ms. The spindle holds the HDD platters in place while they spin. With less lag, the 7,200 RPM improves the load times for search results, programs and games. The Western Digital Caviar Green hard drive uses IntelliPower technology to calculate the optimum speeds it needs to reduce its power consumption by up to 40 percent and keeps it at that level with the IntelliSeek feature. With these functions, the hard disc gives an impressive, external data transfer rate of 300Mbps and an internal data transfer rate of 144.5 Mbit/s. This Western Digital hard drive comes with a 16MB cache, also known as the buffer, to hold data to access at a later point or while transferring it between sections of the HDD. The larger the cache, the faster the computer works. If your drive handles large amounts of data, you need a large buffer. The SATA uses a fraction of the buffer to store commands. With this Western Digital hard drive, you can upgrade your computer and save on power. This 1TB drive is a great way to improve performance and add more storage space without the high cost of purchasing a new computer.

    One of the best purchases I have made in my life. I just save $180 dollars.

    All I know is that I still have the "Western Digital Noire Black Label Hard Drive I bought six years ago and is still running. It is also 1.0 TB. Just as this one I got from eBay. I am really happy with the product. Plus, the description was just as they say it was. Maybe better. It looks just like new. The device hasn't fail since I installed and it will not. You got my word on that. I have being using Western Digital hard drives since college and they never damage. They are the most resistant hard drives in the market right now and I am glad I'm still using them. I will give the seller a 5 stars honorable mention because of its gorgeous and respectful way of considering its costumers. Thanks man. Take Care and keep it up. Joe Anderson.

    awesome to say the least

    very good hd and may not b the fastest but i love the green ones to death i have had all color and prefer the green ones over the black and red for everything not just security camera storage but a all arounder from everything from boot drive to extra storage on both my security camera and home computers def reliable hdd and imo best price for the bang

    Excellent item

    I needed a desperately a new storage device and I saw this hard drive at a very good price on eBay and I decided to buy it, at first the one sent to me was damaged but they replaced it asap with a brand new one that works to excellence. I'm very happy with this item since I'm a gamer and I need a lot of space to store games and all kind of things, as soon as I ran out of space I'll turn to Apethouse to get my new 2TB hard drive when needed.

    GREAT HEAD DRIVE...!

    1 TB; Great for all storage, movies,music,& planty MORE for all...! TKS. Very quite hard drive; power conservitive, & well built. I use this drive as a extermal hard for massage storage and back-up. What I put on this drive is everything and anything. Yes, I would recommend this product.
