Gotta have!
This is one movie everyone MUST HAVE in their collection! Great story about how people treat others that are different. Like the negros of yesterday, this boy was shunned for being different. The story is about a boy who was different due to being exposed to electricity in the womb. He had incredible powers but was looked at as a freak because he was so white. A great story about how ridiculous our fears are and the importance of life. Don't watch with friends, it's a tear jerker.This is one movie everyone MUST HAVE in their collection! Great movie
Loved this movie ever since I first saw it. Interesting content regarding electrical conductivity and human combustion…. Makes you wonder. But great movie….

This is a truly inspiring movie. It brings forth the idea not only that Human Evolution is possible, but that it could be happening right now in ways we don't yet understand. It shows that kindness and compassion are not weaknesses but something great...greater than anything we can imagine. Powder has the ability with electricity to either take or give life, but when given the chance to take a life of someone who wasn't kind to him...he chooses instead to give it back. Sorry if that's a spoiler. I just really loved this movie which is why I bought it. It also shows that some differences, no matter how strange they may seem are actually a beautiful gift. Powder sees people, really sees them...he sees their souls, what people are like on the inside and makes his judgments about people based ... This is a truly inspiring movie. Powder Dvd
This movie could never be made today without some major adjustments. There is way too much bullying and an extreme lack of caring adult authorities. It's just one abuse after another. The only comic relief is Jeff Goldblum, which befriends "Powder." I liked this movie when it first came out years ago, but now viewing it will some maturity, it was simply depressing and sad.

Suspension of disbelief is a staple of fictional cinema, but this movie expects us to believe that a human teenager can read minds by empathy, has an unmeasurable I.Q., AND is a highly volatile natural lightning rod.....Still, it was an engaging movie due to fine performances by actors Jeff Goldblum and Mary Steenburgen (who I like anyway...she's a hottie...). This movie came out around the time that John Travolta did 'Phenomenon', and there are a number of parallels that both movies seemed to engage. (Prescient knowledge, empathic responses, almost supernatural powers, et al.)
