As the US prepares for D-Day, a secret branch of the Allied military begins its disinformation campaign. U.S. Military Intelligence does not know that a Nazi mole has infiltrated its ranks. Novice American spy Jeff Lassiter inadvertently tells the mole, who uses the alias "Bill O'Connell," that the Americans intend to invade Normandy, not Holland, as the enemies suspect. As O'Connell travels to France, Bob Sharkey, the head of Military Intelligence, parachutes into that same country to capture a Nazi sympathizer who has the keys to an Axis rocket launcher. Unfortunately for Sharkey, however, O'Connell beats him there and demands to know the Allies' true strategy.A group of Allied agents working undercover in occupied Paris struggle to infiltrate German files in order to discover the location of a rocket launching site before the D-Day invasion. However, in their midst a traitor lurks.

PLOT: secrets missions planning have a Nazi Spy in their ranks. The Secret Intelligent Service in World War 2 trained agents to be sent into Nazi Occupied Europe. James Cagney is one of the top US agents to 'train allied spies' to be dropped behind the Nazi Lines in occupied Europe. The Group 077~ are soon put through hand to hand defense training and wireless transmissions. Cagney learns a Nazi Spy is at the top of the class new class..... Cagney deliberately plants "false" information about the upcoming Invasion of Europe right before D Day to throw off the Germans but the spy is one step ahead of him. When Cagney goes in himself to GET rid of Frenchman who is helping the Germans. This is done in docudrama style. The same team who produced and directed the House on 92nd Street lead ... Why you bought it I am trying to get all the legal James Cagney films I can, eventually, especially targeting DVDs for my private collection. I've seen the film multiple times previously, but never owned it. My Advice: Own it. You open up the history books and can see the film with new eyes each viewing, why James Cagney is so great. Good dialog plus Cagney's ability to talk with facial expressions alone. The acting is extraordinary, not a surprise with the cast with its leader, James Cagney at the helm. People who don’t usually like war movies will find themselves surprised. A good introduction to James Cagney, if one has never seen his acting or he is unknown to younger audiences. What you like most about it James Cagney. Ok, the supporting cast was mighty fine, too, ... Ok, the supporting cast was mighty fine, too, and the film would not have worked without them - ie: Annabella, Richard Conte, Frank Latimore, narrator Reed Hadley, etc. It gave me a greater appreciation of choices that had to be made to win a war. Hard choices also translate into life. There may not be any right answers, just the better solution for the task at hand. What you dislike about it. The cast of the main characters, at least, were stunted somewhat in their development by the script, which at times was muddy. Jeff Lassiter (Frank Latimore)'s character being selected as a spy, who has the tenderest of constitutions, not tested/trained in the academy properly before he goes on the mission, for me was the least credible aspect to swallow.

The Movie - "13 Rue Madeleine", My Grandfather and Me
"13 Rue Madeleine" is a Classic film about World War II. I've watched this film many times over the years when it appeared on television and recommend it highly. There was always something about this film that nagged at me and I never knew why until a few years ago. I'll explain why. This movie has characters that are composites of real life persons and events from World War II. There is a scene near the end of the movie in which a "Young American Officer" captures Nazi General Goering's office and all of it's secrets intact. The "Young Officer" then stays and guards the office until a team from Allied Intelligence can arrive to process the captured information. As the "Young American Officer" turns the captured office over to Allied Intelligence and is about to leave he grabs an ashtray ... "13 Rue Madeleine" is a Classic film about World War II. I've watched this film many times over the years when it appeared on television and recommend it highly. His reply was that he'd waited there for so many hours for Allied Intelligence to arrive that he had to have something and that the ashtray was the only thing that wasn't of any importance to Allied Intelligence. Historically, the office and it's contents turned out to be the greatest source of information on the Nazis and their secret projects and served as a guide to finding Jets, Rockets and other Secret Weapons. I played with my grandfather's ashtray as a child until my grandmother saw me drop it on the floor one day. It's a good thing that it didn't break or I wouldn't have it today. My grandmother made sure that she informed me that my grandfather had gotten that ashtray from "Mr. Goering's" desk and that he'd be really upset if I ever broke it. So now, I've got the ashtray and a great way to tell my friends about my grandfather. I also watch the entire movie whenever I can.

13 Rue Madeleine is a great movie!
eBay was the only place where I found this James Cagney classic. He is my fav classic actor if all time! I hope to find more movies there. Thank you eBay! Hope you keep your prices low so I can afford to shop there more often.
