À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Agent Ray Levoi (Val Kilmer) buried his Native American heritage with the body of his drunken father. Raised by his white mother and stepfather, he becomes a gung-ho federal agent who never questions the authority of the U.S. government. Then Levoi finds himself in a real-life version of "cowboys and Indians" when the FBI moves onto a South Dakota reservation to apprehend a fugitive. Once in the community, the agent uncovers a plot to frame American Indian activists. With the help of an Indian sheriff and shaman (Graham Greene), he learns to accept a long-denied part of himself and to fight for his people. Created after the success of DANCES WITH WOLVES and LAST OF THE MOHICANS, director Michael Apted's film takes the buddy-cop genre and uses it to explore the sordid politics of reservation life in the United States. The film was released just weeks after Apted's documentary INCIDENT AT OGLALA, which examines the unjust imprisonment of Indian activist Leonard Peltier. Together the two films form a powerful plea for recognition of the mistreatment of Native Americans.

  • Thunderheart

I have this movie on VHS and wanted to update my collection to DVD. Great suspense and action story based on a compilation of true stories that happend on Indian Reservations during the 70's & 80's. Well written and directed. Great humor breaks the tension filled storyline about a FBI agent sent to the badlands to investigate a string of murders on indian land. Val Kilmer and Sam Shepherd play the FBI team competing with Tribal Cop,Sidney Crowhorse (Greene) for who can find the truth first. Meanwhile Val Kilmer's character is set on a journey of inner exploration to find that part of himself inherited from his Sioux father. A connection with this group of strangers triggers a spiritual calling that ends with his finding courage, even he didn't know he had. Great supporting roles by Shiela ...

  • Thunder Heart

Having viewed this movie several times I wanted to get it for my DVD collection and had a hard time finding it. It stars Val Kilmer as an FBI agent of American Indian Ancestry investigating a homocide on an Indian Reservation in the late 1970's. There are some interesting twists to the plot and Kilmer plays the role to the hilt. Kilmer is an excellent actor and with the supporting cast which includes Graham Green as a Reservation Indian Police Officer. There is some graphic violence and some adult language, however I personally think this movie was underrated and definately should have been Oscar material. The story line gives the viewer some idea of the plight of the American Indians living on reservations in the Western United States. One line in Kilmers role, " we have the third ...

  • Thunderheart (DVD, 1998)

FBI Agent Ray Levoi (Val Kilmer) has just been chosen for a special job. A murder has been committed on the Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. There is an armed movement that has been going on for quite some time and it is all but shut down. Levoy is half Sioux Indian, although he has done everything that he can do to hide that fact, the Agency feels that if one of their own is sent, the impact will be less. He is to meet Agent Cucella (Sam Shepard) at the airport. Levoi's white mother remarried when he was just a child after his alcoholic father died. After joining the FBI, he has been a hard-core supporter of the authority of the U.S. government. Now here he is, and he is tracking a fugitive on the Sioux Reservation. He quickly meets and befriends the Indian Sheriff (Graham Greene). ...

  • A riveting encounter with Native American life and spirit in a new era

This film, which made its theater run thirty years ago, was one of my favorite films of the decade. Earthy, moving, dramatic, and eerie all at once, it contains performances by Graham Greene, Sam Shepard, Val Kilmer, Sheila Tousey, John Trudell, Julius Drum, and Ted Thin Elk that are trenchant and unforgettable. My lifelong fascination with indigenous Indian culture was nourished wonderfully by this film, which I just watched again with my son's mother. She was as taken with it as I am.
