    A cranky old man's review of "Live-Alison Krauss"

    I've been a serious music fan since junior high (over 40 years, ugh). Many live recordings that I've bought have been less than expected. This is not the case with Live-Alison Krauss; it does not disappoint. The content and performance are excellent; a great mix of popular and less familiar songs. The instumentals are clean, and balanced well with the vocals. Neither overpowers the other. The recording is outstanding. Vocals, fiddle, and dobro come through crystal clear, but not tinny or harsh. My old Klipsch Forte speakers, with horn midrange and tweeters, seem to be custom made for this CD. It's rare that I own a CD that I can sit and listen to from start to finish, especially a two CD set. With Live-Alison Krauss, it's a pleasure; nothing to skip over.

    One of my favorites

    I'm used to hearing Alison Krauss & Union Station in single song increments on the radio and a few rare appearances on television. I was anxious to have an album where I could enjoy her in quantity, so to speak. I assumed that this album would be like most...I'd really love one or two numbers, sort of like a few more, feel noncommittal about several and even not like one or two. I was thrilled to find that this album is the exception to all those in my collection...I really love most of the numbers and really like the rest a lot. There is music to suit every frame of mind and all are guaranteed to put you in a good mood if you weren't already. If you're a fan of Alison and her band, this album will be one of your favorites of all time. Guaranteed!

    She's great without Robert Plant too!!

    This is a great double-cd - I love live music. I only really bought it because I loved the Plant/Krauss 'Raising Sand' cd I bought last year and 'The Grammys' reminded me about it. Apart from 'Moments Like This' off the Twister soundtrack I didn;t have any other of their music. It's worth it just for Jerry Douglas's superb Dobro playing. Apart from the great bluegrass there's a great, and surprising, cover of the Foundations 'Baby, Now That I've Found You' and 'When You Say Nothing At All' which I knew as a Ronan Keating song off Notting Hill!! Not any more!!

    MOMS GIFT

    I had no idea what I wanted to give mom for her Christmas present. She always says she doesn't need anything. We were baking cookies and an Alison Krauss song came on the radio and she commented on how much she liked "that girl's voice". I immediately thought--that's it!--a CD of Alison Krauss would be a great gift for her! I got home and started the search process and thought the box set would be ideal --i found it, ordered it, and got it in record time and presented it to her. The gasp she let out said it all--she LOVED it!! It has, as she put it "all the songs I love". No need for more words other than a reverse of semantics--"if mamas happy --everybody is happy!! Thanks EBAY !, you made mom's Christmas a success!!

    Like pearls on a string...

    The consistency of AK and her band is so obvious on this live 2cd release. These artists are masters of the trade not only in a studio, but live as well. I now decided I want ALL her recordings, and just bought the gospel cd with AK and the Cox family, as well as both available dvd's. So far I couldn't put a finger on any of AK's recordings, and even one may have a certain favorite track on an album, I never find myself skipping, because all tracks are 100% pleasing...Go get it!
