The Rolling Stones Some Girls Review
The Rolling Stones CD Some Girls is certainly an album that crashed through boundaries the record industry and the pulse of the nations musical taste held on with much tenacity to the disco beat. When Saturday Night Fever in the United States was the best selling Album of all time and Punk was underground in New York and exploding in The United Kingdom this was a very difficult time to create a Rock and Roll album that would appeal to everyone. For this was the time Rock and Roll was taking itself very seriously and if a song wasn't 10 minutes long it wasn't worth playing. And the only thing we knew for sure was Lou Gramm's girlfriend or lover was as cold as ice. The Rolling Stones never stagnant in their musical endeavors created the release of Some Girls which had a bit of everything ... The Rolling Stones CD Some Girls is certainly an album that crashed through boundaries the record industry and the pulse of the nations musical taste held on with much tenacity to the disco beat. The Rolling Stones never stagnant in their musical endeavors created the release of Some Girls which had a bit of everything in it. So if you don't know what direction to take, go everywhere and that is exactly what they did. From the punk sound of Shattered, The now legendary and classic "Beast of Burden" might be the best rock ballad ever and with the genuine rocking riffs of When the "Whip Comes down" and "Respectable" illustrates the Stones can keep on rocking and Rolling and even let you throw on polyester pants and boogie the night away to "Miss You". And it was certainly no mistake that the Number one Hit off the album gave the reluctant rockers to accept Disco in an entirely different avenue and still be cool. And if that wasn't enough the Classic Country "Far Away Eyes" was the icing on the cake. The song would become a Stones classic to it's comical lyrics and country parody melody. If any Rock and Roll Album would represent a band's ability to remain true to their roots and still move with the times this would be the first album of it's type to epitomize diversity in musical composition. In an era where Rock and Roll was going to undergo serious future changes The Rolling Stones Some Girls was a granite stepping stones in the decade to come and in my opinion is the best example of what the Stones do best, Play rock and roll and we know its only rock and roll but we like it.

Stones bounce back.
First off, great album. Never mind that it's the Stones' biggest seller by far to date (not counting greatest hits/best of or live albums). It also gave a much needed resurgence to the band and put them back on top. 'Miss You', 'Beast of Burden', 'Shattered', 'When the Whip Comes Down', 'Far Away Eyes', 'Before They Make Me Run', etc. Casual fans will find it covers a lot of bases; disco, country, rocking, etc. and it all fits well together. Die hard fans know it as a new phase and a definite landmark album among several others in their long career. Was persuaded to buy it as a Virgin remaster since those remasters are widely regarded as the best sounding of the Stones' catalog. Imo, any Stones collection is incomplete without this classic. A Variety of Cool Stone's Tunes
This is kind of an odd album. None of the tunes really have anything to do with each other. Miss You has a disco sound, Far Away Eyes is as close to country as the Stones will get, they do a cover of the Temptation's (I think that's who did this song, could have been the Four Tops) Just My Imagination which is actually a pretty inventive rendition of a cover song, and Shattered which is kind of a goofy rambling song, almost like Mick was doing a precursor to rap. The closest thing to what you might think of as a regular Stone's tune is When The Whip Comes Down. Not that there's anything wrong with what they've done on this album, but with so many different kinds of songs, it seems like a collection instead of an album. Most people already know this, but check out his cool drumming in Shattered. He does a lot of off-time cool drumming that just seems to work. I don't know how, it sounds so goofy, but it works. That's what makes it so cool. And albums like this are what make these guys such a cool band.

RONNIE WOOD replaces MICK TAYLOR, bringing to the band his own signature sound to intertwine with that of long time co-founder, song writer and guitarist, KIETH RICHARDS. RICHARDS, when asked about the title of the album responded "Because we couldn't remember all their F**kin' names!" Among the now classic hits "MISS YOU", "SHATTERED", and "BEAST OF BURDEN", fans of the band are treated to another 'STONES' cover of legendary MOTOWN recording artists, THE TEMPTATIONS with "IT WAS JUST MY IMMAGINATION". Originally the album cover sported the likenesses of such celebs as RAQUEL WELCH, LUCILLE ... Some Girls!!!!!!
Love this one it’s got ten good songs like the title track, and before they make me run and also just my imagination love that tune. I guess all in all buy this album if you like the stones at their best!
