FLCL: The Ultimate Edition (2007 circa DVD)
When I first saw this 6-episode series on Adult Swim a few years ago I thought: HUH!? WHAT WAS THAT?? Needless to say I watched every future airing the folks at Adult Swim cranked out trying to make sense of it. It really helps if you LOVE anime. This show was a hoot. At first I thought it bordered around soft-core kiddie porn and wondered how Adult Swim managed to keep it on the air. Like a previous reviewer commented this series has lots of innuendoes and the viewer is constantly kept on his/her/their toes. Japan doesn't need a Godzilla when it has Medica Mechanica slowly sucking or crushing the life blood out of its local populace. The main character is a 12-year old Asian male experiencing puberty. Apparently I dilly-dallied too long getting this. Got it fast and in mint condition. Highly recommend seller; highly recommend series (provided you can think beyond the norm). If you can't find a copy there are uploads on YouTube that can tide you over until you do.

Words Cannot Describe the Greatness of this Collection!!!
This DVD box set is the epitome of everything you could possibly want if you are a fan of FLCL. I bought one of these back when they were first released, but it was eventually destroyed in an accident, so I decided to re-purchase one online and I was not disappointed. The collection was just as awesome the second time around! There isn't much else you could ask for in regards to this set. The discs come packaged in a cool little protective cardboard layered box with artwork featuring the character, "Canti", from the series, with the rest of the contents including postcards, stickers, a T-shirt voucher (which still works after all these years!), a rubber "Never Knows Best" bracelet, and, of course, one of the main attractions...the box itself, which features the characters "Haruko" on one ... This DVD box set is the epitome of everything you could possibly want if you are a fan of FLCL. Naota is a boy who wishes to be grown up while his friends constantly remind him that he's still young. His life is thrust upside down when a flying vespa riding alien wild woman swoops from the sky and hits him in the head with her guitar. From his forehead, sprouts an apron wearing fighting mecha robot that fights various godzilla like monsters. Confused? The story is fast paced, erratic, but not without plot. It takes multiple viewings to catch the underlying themes of pubescent development and the transition into adulthood. On the surface, it is a visual spectacle but when you dig deeper, it has meaning. The best ova ever!!
I bought this for myself as a birthday present, i already have the single discs and i always wished for more of this show. The only difference is the bonus disc and some postcards and translation notes but anything to give me a little more flcl was worth it to me. the art is awesome still, years after release. The music , by the pillows, is one of the best soundtracks ever in my opinion and the story although a little confusing to most really made an impression on me. i would strongly reccommend this to anyone who loves anime or anyone looking for a good place to start getting into anime.I bought this for myself as a birthday present, i already have the single discs and i always wished for more of this show. I bought this set so I could finally see the whole series without interuption. The storyline and style are quirky and eclectic in my view, but I still enjoyed the series enough to buy it. If you watch the series and are an anime fan, you'll get the inside jokes made of the genre that are in the series more so than I have, but as a novice I still found the overall absurdity funny. In a way, I'd say the series is '60 pychodelic meets Monty Python meets anime.I bought this set so I could finally see the whole series without interuption. If you watch the series and are an anime fan, you'll get the inside jokes made of the genre that are in the series more so than I have, but as a novice I still found the overall absurdity funny.
