Lifelong friends Adam (Ashton Kutcher) and Emma (Natalie Portman) attempt to avoid falling in love after falling into each other's beds in this comedy exploring the complexities and quirks of having friends with benefits. Adam was a typical, hormonal 14-year-old when he first came on to Emma at summer camp -- and got shot down in flames. In the years that followed, however, Adam and Emma continued to cross paths until, eventually, they both caved to their animal instincts. Despite an intense session of earth-shaking sex, however, Emma makes it clear to Adam that the last thing she wants is a committed relationship. And thanks to the fact that Adam's father (Kevin Kline), a fallen television star, has just begun dating his son's ex-girlfriend, the horrified bachelor has developed an aversion to monogamy as well. At first their casual stance on sex works great for both; Emma can focus on her career instead of allowing her emotions to dictate her decisions, and Adam can play the field without fear of hurting her feelings. Over time, though, a funny thing happens -- Adam begins to develop feelings for Emma that he never had for any of his countless conquests. Before they both know it, love has reared its ugly head and they've gotten too emotionally involved to cut the relationship off cold. But is commitment in the cards for the couple that always swore it would never get serious, or has the time come for them to finally part ways once and for all?

A good romantic comedy
Adam (Ashton Kutcher) and Emma (Natalie Portman) meet as friends while they are children and then again a few years later. Emma has emotional issues and has decided that she is not going to get attached to anyone so she makes an arrangement with Adam to be Sex-Friends. Friends who meet to have sex when ever they want with "no strings attached". This works fine for a while but complications arise as the two become closer to each other. This is a good hearted romantic comedy that is entertaining and somewhat funny. It reminded me a lot like "A Lot Like Love" which also starred Kutcher. Kevin Kline appears as Adams father and gives adds a lot of laughs to the movie. Also appearing in this movie are: Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes, and ... Sweet rom-com delivers.
This is another movie I seem to remember getting a critical mauling when it opened in cinemas. Basically, you're in no doubt as to the outcome from the first frames of the film, but 'No Strings Attached' is still a fun ride. Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman are certainly easy on the eye and play well off each other. They're well matched by the supporting cast and are lucky enough to have a smart, spiky script to work with too. The film has more of an edge than you'd perhaps expect and gets quite saucy in spots! Pretty good!
This movie was a lot better than I expected. I figured this would be like a lot of the other movies with similar story lines, but it was actually pretty good. Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher have good chemistry on screen. They actually make it look easy. It made me laugh and cry so it has to be pretty good. Kevin Kline plays Ashton's dad in this and does a pretty good job as well. The only thing that I would of left out was the drug reference, it wasn't necessary and actually made those parts a little hard to watch.
