Batman: Arkham Asylum is an original adventure with fast action and large-scale combat sequences, played from a close third-person perspective in a dark, survival horror-styled setting. The game begins as Batman delivers the Joker to Arkham Asylum, Gotham City's psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. The villain springs a trap and takes over the institution, with an army of thugs and a host of dangerous inmates to back him up. The twisted plot plays out in a freely explored re-creation of the asylum and surrounding island. In addition to prowling the corridors of Arkham, Batman can explore the outdoor areas, using his equipment to reach high spots and glide safely back down. Specially suited for the game's one-against-many melee style, the three-button combat control scheme is intended for free-flowing moves and strings of combo attacks on multiple opponents. Batman also has a belt full of useful gadgets to help even the odds, with x-ray scanners and chemical tracers that let him see through walls and follow invisible tracks. Stealthy prowling gives advantages of positioning and surprise, rewarding the hero's caution and patience with one-hit takedowns. Experience earned through combat, exploration, and experimentation allow Batman to create better equipment, more finely tuned to the given tasks. In addition to the Joker and his brilliant aide in evil, Harley Quinn, Batman faces other super-powered asylum patients, including Bane, Killer Croc, and Zsasz. As usual, brains as well as brawn are required to unravel Joker's insanely inspired scheme. The story for Batman: Arkham Asylum was written by Paul Dini, writer and producer for Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond. Cartoon series regulars Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Arleen Sorkin perform voice acting. The game was developed by Rocksteady Studios, creator of Eidos' 2006 first-person shooter Urban Chaos: Riot Response. The "Collector's Edition" comes packaged with a 14-inch "Batarang," a 48-page book featuring notes on Arkham's many troubled inmates, the Arkham doctor's journal, a "behind-the-scenes" DVD, a code for a downloadable "Challenge" map, and the exclusive "Crime Alley" map.

Sound: Excellent – 9.5/10 The thing that sets this game apart is the voice acting. Games have had problems with cheesy actors, but this title gets Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil to do the voices of Batman and the Joker (from the Animated series). This game has the sound, from the sounds of the punches, groans, the heightening tension of the music when an attack is coming, and the sounds of The Asylum. The ambiance is set in the different areas by the increasing tones of heightening sense of importance through the use of music in this game. Controls: Great - 8.5/10 Very well done and responsive control set. During combat, the controls can be pinpoint accurate, and makes it fun when playing the challenges. The downside is the use of Batman's arsenal, which the controls are lack accuracy. Gameplay: Excellent – 9.5/10 Let me start by saying that when playing this game, there is nothing better than having an excellent Batman Game. With or without Batman, this game would be fun regardless, but just having this license makes it that much better. However, that being said, this game is a single player experience, and that is not a bad thing. Having a multi-player may have actually hurt this title. The computer A.I. will shoot you in the back, hunt you down, and will be aware of where you have been. Replay Value: Very Good - 8.0/10 Once the game is over, you will most likely be wanting more. Luckily, there are many unlockables, multiple difficulty levels, and a challenge mode, with more maps to come, to keep you going. You will want to find all the upgrades for every weapon, and compare your times to your friends. After all that is said and done, you will have got your money's worth. Overall – Excellent 9.0/10 This is an excellent game, and is almost a 10/10, but it is not perfect. This game is a nice addition to the end of the Summer 2009 release schedule and is worth every penny. This game is a great mix of pure action and stealth. This game is a mix of Gears of War, Bioshock, and Assassin's Creed. Where this game does many things right, it is flawed and glitch in just as many areas. If this were another title name, I would still have enjoyed it still as much. Verdict: BUY IT

Ok. like alot of you tried the demo and wasnt to excited. But I bought the special edition and could care less at first. Then I got addicted out of nowhere. Theres this sweet upgrading your everything part. I loved upgrading my batarang so I could control it like a remote controlled plane. Also you can detect stuff like smoke from a nicotine pipe to lead to more thrilling things. I mean thats a cool way to tell you where to go on the map. I love me some gears of war 2 except for the glitches and this had graphics just like that game. Very refreshing fun and addictive. Irs like old school tenchu meets matrix meets button masher meets problem solving. Hope I could help take care. Amazing buy!
The Batman Arkham Asylum collectors edition came in 99% mint condition (aside from a very tiny crack that was caused by the shape of the box). Everything was as advertised and it's a great addition for my collection. Very satisfied with my purchase

Best Batman game EVER. The things that I don't like about it is that if you don't buy a certain Arkham Asylum, you could be missing out on some good extras. They should make extras like, Crime Alley, Dem Bones, Armored Batman, and The Joker DLC so that games aren't forced into buying this codes from individuals or the same game of a different system and make more of a profit for themselves. But, I guess that how companies have to compete with one another. Maybe they with make them DLCs soon enough.Best Batman game EVER. One of the coolest games out there today!
The graphics are fantastic, the character details are amazing, and the voice acting is top notch. This is Batman for the modern age. The combat is a bit simple, but tricky when being attacked by groups. The graphics of the combat make up for it though. The area is vast, and is tricky sometimes. A great game for any Batman lover.
