Product Information

The PowerShot A530 is equipped with an approximately 5.0 million camera effective pixel 1/2.5-inch Charge Coupled Device (CCD). Also, with DIGIC II, higher resolution and high-speed processing were achieved and the startup time and response time were shortened. This camera is equipped with the 4x optical zoom lens, which covers a 35mm film equivalent focal length ranging from 35 mm (Wide Angle) to 140 mm (Telephoto) and an f/2.6 (Wide Angle) - f/5.5 (Telephoto) aperture.The PowerShot A530 succeeds the basic shooting functions of the PowerShot A510 and has additional or more advanced functions as well except omitting Tv (Shutter-Priority AE) and Av (Aperture-Priority AE) in the shooting mode.The recording pixels now include a "Widescreen" feature that has the same aspect ratio as so-called 16:9 widescreen TVs for shooting wide images. Adding ISO [800] has resulted in a faster shutter speed even when shooting in dark environments. The Color Accent mode and Color Swap mode that transform colors when shooting have been added to the Special Scene mode. The new "My Colors" in the FUNC. menu is used to change the look and feel of the pictures when shooting. With the newly added "Standard", "Compact", "Color Accent" and "Color Swap" in the movie mode, it is easier to select modes to meet the purpose. In the Standard mode, digital zoom while recording movies is available.

    Good quality pics, a little noisy and slow between pics

    Got this camera on Ebay and haven't had a chance to take a lot of pictures, but so far the pictures look great indoors with average lighting, very clear, no blurry photos. The camera is very noisy taking photos, when you press the button to take a photo, the flash is slow and there's a slight delay. Also, you have to change settings to view your picture instead of just hitting one button to look at it and then taking another photo. This will be my home camera because I don't want to take this camera out and about to take pictures with these issues. I haven't read the manual, hate doing stuff like that, so don't know how to do much with it, I haven't even set the date yet, but it's a keeper just for the good quality photos.

    ABSOLUTELY Awesome pictures. The greatest for family, video, EBay.

    This little camera is awesome! I purchased one several years ago to use for pics on EBay. You could not beat the quality of the pics for the price of this camera. I used it for family pics, vacation scenes and everything I took a pic of. I actually put my $800.00 Pentax on the shelf. Because of the size, it was great. Last month I mistakenly left it on the trunk of my car and drove off. I KNOW that someone has a nice Canon PowerShot A530 with pics of my aunt's basement! A little bounce off the trunk in a gravel driveway could not destroy this little jewel! Anyway, I was devastated when I realized what had happened. In the only effort I knew, I went to EBay. Lo and behold....they had several listed. I was determined to replace this member of my family and I did. I now have another ...

    PowerShot A530

    This may not be the most update digital camera available, but it does a great job. The optical viewfinder with zoom makes it very easy to capture pics that are properly framed in light conditions that make the LCD viewfinder useless due to bright lighting conditions. The use of standard AA batteries is also a plus, eliminating the need for an additional charger. Very simple and easy to use, I highly recommend it for shooting action scenes, sports, etc.

    Great camera for the price

    It's easy to use and takes great pictures. This camera has the stitch assist feature for panoramic views,which I love to take. This feature is now found only in the more expensive models. This is what I was looking for when selecting a camera. This is not a professional camera, but, the overall features it has, allows you either just snap pictures, or learn a little and get some interesting effects. Easy to use, good for children with an interest in photography. The camera itself is a little bulkier than others, even from Canon, where the batteries are placed, but at the same time that works as a handle. I recommend for anyone that likes to "point and shoot" without any hassle and get good pictures , or is interested in learning a little more.

    CANON POWERSHOT A530 IS A GREAT CAMERA!

    This camera is as good as it gets for me. I use it for all my Ebay pictures in my store. It has a good zoom, great quality pix and best of all it uses a SD card (high speed 60 2g in mine) that is very convenient to upload my pix to the computer instantly because both my computers have the crd slot. I bought one of these new on Ebay a couple of years ago and recently I decided that if the original ever died, I would purchase a backup. I won on two out of three bids and bought two more so I will probably use this camera until all three die or they outlive me!
