Worthless rant...throwing stones at another while living in a glass house. Hypocritical to the max.
This book is a rant against Pentacostal worship liturgy. The author hates the way such folks express their enthusiasm for God and uses scripture quotes to justify his attitude. It seems not to have registered on this author's mind that his own church has denied the Bible as an authoritative reference to God's revealed desire for worship. Bottom line here is that the author's church has a boatload of its own spiritual problems without expending effort to accuse another of the same spiritual wandering. The book is a waste of time. Contending for THE faith
This is a must read! It helps Christians recognize the sometimes subtle ways that the authority and sufficiency of scripture are undermined by all these "god told me" claims. Nobody used to talk like that - they wouldn't dare claim that God personally told them things. Now I hear it all the time. GOD HAS SPOKEN - IN HIS WORD, THE BIBLE!! I am not Calvinist as MacArthur is, but it is a valuable book and an easy read. I bought several as gifts.This is a must read! Gives a history of the charismatic movement from its dubious beginning in 1901 to the present day, and moves on to demolish fallacies such as the ideas that apostles, prophets, tongues-speakers, and healers exist today, before explaining what the Holy Spirit really does, A few minor illogical arguments, but many arguments from scripture. I highly recommend this book to all charismatics, its time to repent from this movement and its time to value Gods word over experiences. Many false religions began based on experiences and on revelation. Wake up men and women of God and come back to the true gospel that Martin Luther preached to the Roman Catholic church! That Paul preached to the pagan Corinthians! That Jesus spoke to the pharisees. I highly recommend this book to all charismatics, its time to repent from this movement and its time to value Gods word over experiences.
