This series, from Gainax and director Hideaki Anno (EVANGELION), garnered a huge following in its native Japan no doubt due to the series' high quality writing and animation. A high school drama/comedy, HIS AND HER CIRCUMSTANCES is the story of Yukino Miyazawa, the smartest, prettiest, most athletic and popular person at school. However, this golden girl persona masks her private tendencies toward sloth and malice, a side that is provoked when the school gets a new transfer student named Souichiro Arima. Handsome, brilliant, and athletic, Souichiro is everything Yukino tries to be and more. When the school immediately takes to him, Yukino's jealousy is provoked, and she begins to plot against him. Contains episodes 1-26 in a hard case collector's box.

Every teenager should learn these lessons. Wonderful!
From the theme music, altered many ways throughout the series, to the very human emotions, very humorous family incidents and the contemplative moods, this is the one to make a part of your life. Time is allowed for you to let the feelings and new thoughts sink in, and you realize things you never noticed when you were growing up. I have seen many kinds of Anime, but this has a real heart. It can make an old man, hardened from life's troubles, laugh and cry. It brings you back to the very moments you first held hands, or kissed in school. It is wonderful at teaching how to think of new emotions and feelings about others. It expresses various responses to painful circumstances, and joy. Life can turn in a moment, and the emptiness will be filled. You enter high school with a neat little ... A lifetime of hard study can lose its grip when the mind begins to notice a new sensation taking over -- a sense of being helpless when you are apart from one you first considered the enemy. As time goes on small surprises change you, and your heart is bound to this other person. Even before you know it, your life has changed, and keeping them in your life is worth everything. And again the music. I am a classical music fan, and this haunting piece of the violin and other instruments, in various moods at various times, keeps running through my mind when I am in need of it. If you want to amuse yourself with memories of sibling rivalry, recall what looked to you like a total lack of family harmony, remember the fear you had when you first realized you might be falling in love, then get this 5 volume series. Watch it with your parents or your kids. It is the most special.

Great show
This is one of the few Right Stuff Internation publish show. It is collector release so the box and DVD art looks great. Wish gainax/trigger makes more romcom.

Good series, and a value, worth the time to watch
To sum up this story in a word, it's "engrossing". You'll want to know what happens next. The viewer can see themselves somewhere in this story. While it is not ground breaking, or "fanservice" oriented, or even "a recent release", it is enjoyable. One thing not mentioned in any review, the amount of things taken from H&HC that show up in other anime. Watch it carefully. Even my non-anime watching wife got hooked on this one. Nuff said. Comparision shopping will score this set at a good price. An excellent change of pace from blood drenched demonic gore or too many magical-mecha-android-zombiesTo sum up this story in a word, it's "engrossing". You'll want to know what happens next. His and Her Circumstances Box Set
I saw the first episode of His and Her Circumstances and instantly became an addict! XD it is simply amazing one of the best and cutest show I have ever seen. It is also one of the only anime in which I prefer the english voice actors over the original japanese voice actors and that is saying a lot. Most animes are killed off when the english voice actors slaughter their lines but this one is actually better! It is a very deep show! My only regret is that the anime has ended.... :(I saw the first episode of His and Her Circumstances and instantly became an addict! One of the best romance anime
Definitely a unique series, has an interesting premise and deep characters that hook you, with a great mix of comedy and drama diving deep into the characters minds and actions. They just don't make anime like they used to.
