À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Koei revisits World War II by offering players 15 regional and two global campaigns covering more than 50 Pacific Theater of Operations. Japan, the United States, Great Britain, and Germany mix it up for world supremacy in campaign mode, where the oceans are divided into 50 areas and naval battles unfold. Players choose a side and command battleships, aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, and submarines, as well as aircraft including seaplanes, fighters, scouts, attack planes, and bombers. Diverse missions feature goals such as intercepting enemy aircraft, bombing runs, escort services, reconnaissance, torpedo attacks, and defending and attacking key bases.

Fifteen single scenarios based on historical naval battles ranging from 1940 to 1945 are also available, including famous battles such as Midway, the Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz, the Philippine Sea, Leyte, and Okinawa. P.T.O. IV campaigns feature one-week increments per turn with players determining strategic goals (spy infiltration, fleet arrangement, fleet movement) and battle aspects (supply, transport, repairs, budgetary concerns, resources). Depending on which campaign is chosen (Britain vs. Germany [September 1939] or Japan vs. U.S.A. [December 1941]), tech levels increase and players reap the benefit of newly developed weapons as the war proceeds.

Resources include steel, oil, aluminum, and funding within specific regions, and players must utilize a series of strategic commands regarding fleets, building (ship, aircraft, shipyards, airfields), deployment, politics (blockades, investments, aid, intelligence), delegation, information sources, and other options. During battles, players select from a variety of specific tactical commands such as attack (respond, frontal, artillery, air, and sea), search (patrol, escort), retreat, and scout.

Avis les plus pertinents

  • P.T.O. IV = Fun video war game.

Fun video war-game that allows a player to be the fleets of: U.K., U.S.A., Germany (with Italy) or Japan during WWII. Scenarios allow you to start off at any one point in the war, example, Japan winning say the Battle of Midway can proceed from there for the rest of the war. Campaign games from the very beginning of the conflict are possible too. Disappointed that there is no ground combat phase like in earlier versions of PTO for the PC but winning in key areas assumes you landed and occupy territory too. Producing and naming your own ships is cool tool. Overall a fun game with great graphics makes for hours of entertainment.

  • Great Game, bargain buy.

While it's a completely updated version of the SNES game, it has everything one could ask for. In depth engineering of multiple different aircraft classes, CV, BB, BC, CA, CL, DD, SS class ships. Battles feature an in game camera that is pretty easy to use as you can get a great visual of the damage your ships deal out. Not bad for a game about 10 years old.

  • Not as good as PTO II

Game play is lacking. There are no changes for difficulty. It seems to be a game set on easy. The AI is Dumb as a box of rocks. PTO II was WAY BETTER on the SNES back in the day. The Graphics are A++++++ for a PS2. Being able to play as Germany or Japan is great. Not sure about the Tech advancement because I can dominate the world against US, UK and even Japan as a member of the Allies (That is a neat option in the game) and still finish before 1942 with the start year being 1939. So I've never seen all of the possible techs. Overall a good game, but once you played as all 4 countries, there is no other reason to play.

  • What PTO Shoule Be

This is by far my favorite of the PTO games released in the states. This title allows you to delegate building fleets, air forces and bases while you worry about the strategy aspect. The best feature of this title is the ability to team up with allies to capture the world. You can pit the British and Japanese against the US and Germany or any combination of the aforementioned powers. One of my favorite features of the game is that you can control your investment in technology to get super weapons before they were actually available. This is fantasy war and strategy combined, and at their best, on the PS2.

  • Scratched to death

Product was incredibly scratched and had a crack in the corner. Unusable.
