  • Should Be Final Nail--But Won't Be

Should Intelligent Design be taught in high-school science classes? The movie reenacts a real case where the issue made it to court and divided a town. Nova does a superb job of presenting both sides of the issue (ID vs evolution) through argument and reply based on courtroom testimony. Nova also follows the research done into the deception of those promoting ID as another scientific argument when in reality its origin is based on religion. Includes an excellent interview with the judge who decided the case. This case and movie should end the attempts of ID supporters and religious fundamentalists to stop the teaching of evolution. But, as I have said elsewhere, trying to argue with IDers and fundamentalists is like trying to nail jello to the wall. They will just morph into new ...

  • Among the BEST EVER of the NOVA series!!!

I've been a NOVA fan for over 20 years, and this is one of the very best!! A story about a small town in Pennsylvania whose school board tried to get their science teachers to teach Intelligent Design as an alternative choice to evolution. The teachers said no and the results were watched worldwide. For anybody not familiar with the resulting trial, this is must see. The information given during the trial highlight re-enactments is eye opening. Basically, a trial on the U.S. constitution's separation of church and state and how some members of the religious right tried to pass off creationism as a viable and legitimate science.

  • Great overview of important trial

This DVD portrays the events of the Intelligent Design trial in Dover Pennsylvania in 2005. The docudrama is primarily shown from the viewpoint of the winner, but the opposition definitely has their say. Dramatization of portions of the trial, complete with interviews from the actual participants, tells a complete and important story about the fate of science education in our schools. A very interesting interview with the Republican, Bush-appointed judge who oversaw the case is eye-opening. Educators may want to show this along with "Inherit the Wind" and compare the two trials and outcomes. A must see for supporters of keeping true science in the classroom and leaving creationism to be taught in the home or in the church.

  • Intellegent Design-Creationism on Trial, Dover,PA

Excellent for public policy, local government classes, the political/religious, and local government struggle (school board, citizens, and churches) over whether or not to require teaching creationism, vs Charles Darwin's theory of evolution (2005) contains law room simulation, and computer printable teaching resources.

  • Atheist delight

    Very illuminating.
