Couture Sewing for Wedding Gowns
This is an excellent resource book for details on constructing a wedding gown. It covers all the aspects of making the gown, like suitable fabrics, types of laces, constructing the bodice, adding sleeves, and more. For instance, the author not only shows and describes different laces, but also tells how to iron them and pitfalls to avoid! It is also a beautiful book, including not only instructional photos and drawings, but also full page, full color photos in indoor and outdoor settings. If you are a novice, like me, who is learning by doing, and want to know more about how to make a bridal gown, or any formal gown, you should buy this book! Bridal Couture by Susan Khalje
I have sewn for many years and have seen Susan Khalje on TV many times. I bought the book because I was always impressed by Susan's knowledge of her subject as well as her ways of explaining the processes she wanted you to master. Her book reflects both her easy and encouraging manner as well as her thorough knowlege of her subject. The photographs are wonderful and inspiring. The explanations of technique are easy to understand. It is a wonderful tool to have in my reference "library". I am sure I will refer to it many times to refresh my memory or to point me to a new and more challenging solution to a problem area. The book is not an inexpensive one and the price on eBay was the best I have seen. Wonderful book! Clear and concise. A must for anyone doing couture or bridal work. Lots of photos, and detailed drawings along with clear concise instructions. Not an easy "simple to make" guide, but one that will help those who would like to step up to the plate and take on difficult tasks with a rewarding result! Excellent! There wasn't anything about this book that I didn't like. All the information was pertinant and needed. I bought this book after borrowing it from the local library. I am planning on opening my own web page dealing with restored bridal gowns from past decades.Wonderful book! Clear and concise. A must for anyone doing couture or bridal work. Expensive book but well worth the price!
This is a wonderful book! If you are interested in couture sewing, or just making you own clothing, the book is full of helpful information. It contains instructions for working with expensive special fabrics, detailed views of sewing techniques, and fitting techniques.

More than I expected!! Exceptional book!
Very detailed and downright inspirational for a book on sewing. Her passion for her art is apparent! Definately my best purchase of 2010.
