FlatOut 2 continues the demolition racing series with a number of enhancements over its 2005 predecessor. After selecting a vehicle from a choice of four classes (muscle, sports, pickup, and compact), players will compete against seven AI opponents that possess individual driving styles and personalities. The heart of the game is the championship mode, where the object is to enter multiple cup races, win cash prizes, and unlock new events or vehicles. Each track features an assortment of jumps, ramps, signs, alternate routes, and buildings to crash into while engaging in high-speed collisions with rivals.<br><br>New stunt mini-games are available in FlatOut 2, sporting the same twisted takes on daredevil driving as in the original game. Instead of jumping across objects or navigating through obstacle courses, the aim in each of the 12 events is to propel the driver out of the windshield and into (or onto) various targets. Players can also enter their vehicles in six demolition derby arenas, where the last car left sputtering is declared the winner. Tournaments, stunt challenges, and individual races are supported online via broadband connection for up to six drivers.

This is a pretty good racing game. It has races for all kinds of fans including street, race and derby cars. One of the coolest things about this game is how badly you can mess your car up or other peoples cars. For example you can see pipes falling off or your trunk falling apart, and other damaging thing to the car. Another cool thing is the demolition derbies, if you enjoy crashing into cars at full speed with nitro and watching cars get tossed and turned in the air then you'll like this game. Probably the worst thing about this game can be the steering of the car. The car can sometimes easily get out of control and slide, but once you really get used to it, it feels normal with the way the car handles. Excellent racing experience!
Having been a fan of the original FlatOut, I had been hoping to get my hands on the sequel as soon as I could. Unfortunately I was unable to locate it between three pawn shops and three video game retailers near my hometown. Then I found it on eBay. My first good impression was the menus, and the soundtrack. There is some real choice music throughout this game. The menus also feature a car doing donuts in the background. That was a galactic improvement over the prior games menus. Second was the diversity of the cars themselves. You are not limited to only old cars. Actually the first 3 to choose from are a newer compact, an old muscle car, and an older stepside pickup truck. I mostly like how you can be tactical with your choice of vehicle. Do I want the maneuverability of a small car, the ... The trucks are harder to wreck, but the cars are harder to catch. makes for exciting gameplay. Another interesting thing is how they gave your opponents different personalities. Two of them are pros, three don't really care about winning, and two totally suck. This also makes gameplay more interesting. The tracks range from rural dirt roads and farmhouses (and driving through barns) to racing through drainage canals in urban settings to driving through shopping malls in the big city. Another major perk is getting to turn a supermarket parking lot into a demolition derby arena. On the subject of the tracks, there are even more interactive elements than in the first FlatOut. If you tear through a gas station, indiscriminately running over the gas pumps and oil barrels, they create huge balls of fire that temporarily blind the opponents behind you. If you go tearing through a building through the floor to ceiling windows, they shatter realistically, and all the furnishings in the building find new homes out on the street. This is another tactical move, as the debris stays where it lands until the end of the race. After the second lap, it is completely impossible to run one lap without hitting something. Debris ranges from road cones to combine harvesters, so watch out for the big stuff. Even the Blaster XL ('89 Bronco) cannot topple the combine. (But running into the crop duster makes it explode.) Speaking of explosions, your car can, too. If hit enough, not only will your driver go flying through he windshield, your car will explode a la Grand Theft Auto. As far as the ragdoll stunts, there are some of the old ones, and a lot of new ones. The long jump has been replaced by the Ski Jump, with a better takeoff ramp. The clown has been replaced by the Ring of Fire, where you have to vault your driver through as many rings as possible. Additions you would not expect include Field Goal, where you have to dodge your car around huge cardboard football players; Baseball, where your driver can be batted for a Home Run; and Soccer, where you have to avoid a rampaging cardboard goalie that looks like Bob's Big Boy. Overall the game is very fun and relatively addicting. The mini games can get very frustrating until you get the hang of it. I would have to give it five stars. One more thing. There are extra cars that I have yet to figure out how to unlock, but are unlockable via passcodes (i.e. Cheats). They include a school bus, an ice cream truck, a jet engine powered car, and the Flatmobile, which is a rather decent Batmobile knock-off. Do i suggest this game? In short, Yes.

This game is great! I played Flatout on the PC and loved it. I read reviews about Flatout 2 and it said it improves everything that 1 had and more. And it does! With a few exceptions. Single player is great. You can unlock cars and upgrade them so they run nicely. There is just something so fun about slamming the car that is trying to get past you, into a tree and then racing their driver that crashed out the window before it hits the gound. I enjoy the fact that if you play the multiplayer mode, you don't have to have all the tracks or events unlocked to play them. They are unlocked from the very beginning. That way, if you have someone over, you don't have to play the first three unlocked tracks and that is it. I had someone over the day after I got this and we played the ... This game is great! You crash through a post holding up the billboard and the billboard falls as you go through the first lap... The next lap as you go by the same place, you will hit the broken pieces of the billboard - that is if the other cars hadn't already. You hit a barrel as you are going 86 mph and it launches the barrel forward through the panes of glass in the greenhouse, and the glass rains down on you as you blast through the doors. My one biggest problem of the game may be due to the fact that it is on the PS2 and with all the debris around, the processor wouldn't be able to keep up with what I want. When you do multiplayer mode and you race in split screen on the same TV, there are only two cars racing - yours and player 2. I would have liked to have at least 6 other cars trying to bash you off the road to make it total carnage. Instead, it is just you and the other player for the whole race. Don't get me wrong, it is still fun trying to knock the other guy out, but more AI would be good. I haven't had a chance to go online with it yet, but I think that would make up for the lack of AI racers. I don't have a cable modem that I can hook up to my PS2, but that is my problem. From the rest of the game, I can pretty much guarantee that online racing is where most people would spend their time. To sum up this game... If you like racing, you like destruction while racing, and you like destruction while racing and destroying things, then this game is a great game to get. This has passed Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, and has become my #1 game to play when I need to blow off some steam and want to race. Good times, my friend. Good times...

I mean such a simple game, meaning that the whole concept of it is so simple, but I think that is why it is so much fun to play every single day. If you liked the first one you will like it for damn sure, if you have never played the first one, then you mght not like it unless you like racing games. The races are much for easier, the content is like ten times the size of the first one and the destruction is like ten times better than the first one. THE BOTTOM LINE IS-U HAD BETTER PLAY THIS GAME OR U ARE MISSING OUT ON A LIFETIME OF FUN!!! If you like the first one Your going to love this one.
You you played the first flat out and liked it then youll love to play this one. It has a better selection of car. It also has better driver ejection games from bowling to blackjack. I always rent before I buy but I went out the same day I took the retal back and bought this game. It has excellent graphics and the handling is wonderfull. You have 3 different classes to start, Derby Class, Race Class and Street Race Class. All Three Classes start with A limited Number of cars But the Farther you go the more you unlock. After Beating any one of the 3 classes you then unlock a Superbowl Style Class That lets you use you choice of vehicles from your arsonal. there is a total of 32 different vehicles to unlock. If you havent palyed it yet, What are you waiting for.You you played the first flat out and liked it then youll love to play this one. It has a better selection of car.
