Connections, subtitled "It's a mind game!," is from Some Entertainment and Discovery Channel Multimedia and expands on James Burke's three series Connections, Connections 2, and Connections 3. The premise is based on a fractured universe where chaos is the rule and order is the exception. Knowledge of science, invention, and history is necessary in order to re-establish broken links between people, events, and ideas found in mankind's historical past.<br><br>These series show how common household items and ideas that are used by us everyday can be connected in strange and unusual ways -- ways that most histories never show. As an example, players must reconstruct chains of connections showing how cubic zirconium diamonds are connected to pencils, phosphorus, and carbon paper, among other things.<br><br>Players must construct chains to show how they are interconnected and make it strong enough to keep it from disintegrating. When players find things that fit into the "web" (fabric of the chain construction), James Burke appears and tells them about the items and what other items might be related to it, albeit in general terms.

Can't Play
Although this game isn't compatible with any of my laptops, I'm still happy to have a copy of the game, the little movie files can still be played. The last time I experienced this game, was in high school back in 1997-98 when a group of us played the game at the teacher's desk during our Auto CAD class. For the year, the graphics are amazing and actors played the characters in video snippets (think Oregon Trail). The goal of the game is to figure out how seemingly unrelated items are connected. I believe there was some kind of plotline mystery to solve as you make the connections, but it's been so long I might be wrong. I do highly recommend this game if you happen to have a machine that can play the game. Be warned that you can't set the game to run in compatibility mode. It simply ... its a mind game
like those kind of games even if they are a little difficult to play. that way they are more challenging and make it more interesting to play and takes longer to play. should make morte games like this one , I woul purchase it for my collection. all in all it is a gret game to have and play

A bit pedantic, BUT ... one of the BEST thinking problem solving games for teens and interested adults. There should have been a follow up. The game helps the player understand how everything is connected and also how we developed the things we have. Great history lessons .10/10
