This title was published originally by J.J. Fedorowicz Books, within its superb (and expensive) series of books about the German armed forces in World War II. I was glad to know that it was now available in a less expensive edition, by Stackpole Books, and I manage to get a copy through eBay. The book deals with the actions of the Waffen SS Panzer (Armor) Divisions during Word War II, focusing mainly in its Heavy Panzer Battalions, equipped with the famous Tiger I & II tanks. Actions folowed the normal time sequence - Kursk, defensive battles in the Soviet Union, Normandy, Ardennes, Alsace, Hungary, Vienna, Oder and the final battles in Berlin. Do not expect, however, a complete description of each battle, as viewed by a headquarters officer. What you get - and this is the best part of ... This title was published originally by J.J. It is battle as viewed from inside a tank, with all related drama. A must for historians and for those that like to read about the Second World War. Book also contains useful data about the tanks used by Germany, URSS, USA and Great Britain, together with some historical data about the Waffen SS armored units. I liked it.

Henri Henscler and Wil Sey collaborated, with historians and former members of the Panzer SS units, to create an in depth analysis of SS Panzer Divisions from 1943-45. Great detail is explained within the contents of the book. This includes personal stories, detailed battle reports, and unforeseen actions the Waffen SS undertook. Out-manned by hoards of Russians and then American and U.K. divisions, these hardened and at times fanatical soldiers fought to the very end. Other useful information involves the use of Tiger tanks and how much damage they could withstand. Serious credit is given to the repair crews who worked around the clock, under fire, to maintain SS Panzer Divisions operational. I have read many books about the Allied assault on Nazi Germany, but this book captures the ... Henri Henscler and Wil Sey collaborated, with historians and former members of the Panzer SS units, to create an in depth analysis of SS Panzer Divisions from 1943-45. This book does not at all glorify the Waffen SS, but instead characterizes these units as dedicated fighters and hardened veterans.

Great book. First hand account of battles on the eastern and western front. A book for people who want to read about the actual battles and not overall startegic content of wars.
