À propos de ce produit

Product Information

In this stunning follow-up to the global phenomenon The Da Vinci Code , Dan Brown demonstrates once again why he is the world's most popular thriller writer. The Lost Symbol is a masterstroke of storytelling--a deadly race through a real-world labyrinth of codes, secrets, and unseen truths . . . all under the watchful eye of Brown's most terrifying villain to date. Set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C., The Lost Symbol accelerates through a startling landscape toward an unthinkable finale. As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object --artfully encoded with five symbols--is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation . . . one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom. When Langdon's beloved mentor, Peter Solomon--a prominent Mason and philanthropist --is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is instantly plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations--all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth. As the world discovered in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons , Dan Brown's novels are brilliant tapestries of veiled histories, arcane symbols, and enigmatic codes. In this new novel, he again challenges readers with an intelligent, lightning-paced story that offers surprises at every turn. The Lost Symbol is exactly what Brown's fans have been waiting for . . . his most thrilling novel yet.

  • "The Lost Symbol"-A great Thriller with a terrific reader, Paul Michael

I purchased this product to replace one I lost. Although I have not finished listening to "The Lost Symbol" I highly recommend it. Many of my friends say it's his best yet and I agree so far. I like to read a book AND listen...a bit of reading, then a bit of listening.(try it...just remember to move your book mark!) I have read/listened to Dan Brown's "The Davinci Code", "Angels and Demons" and "Deception Point". Brown's stories and writing style are both thrilling and thought provoking. Consistently a "page (or in this case) CD turner!" He is on a par with my favorite writer, the late, great Michael Crichton. Thrilling, intelligent and often fact based story telling! What I especially like about this recorded book (as well as the other Dan Brown works I mentioned) is the reader, Paul ...

  • The Cure for Road Rage

A long time ago, I discovered that the cure for road rage is to have someone telling me a story while I drive. Rush hour? No problem. Road construction? No problem. However, my commuter solution becomes a problem when I listen to a book like this one. I have no problem on the road. The problem I have is that I arrive late to work. It isn't that I didn't get to the building on time. It was that I was sitting in the company parking lot for a half hour riveted to the cd player in my car! This is a fascinating book on a lot of levels. Because of Dan Brown's extensive research, you get a very different view of our nation's capital. I would love to visit Washington D.C. with a copy of this book in hand, looking at the symbols he describes. I know I WILL do that some day. The book ...

  • The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (2009, Unabridged, Compact

This was a good book. I captured you from the start and kept you going till the end. IT had a crazy twist in the book and if all the research is accurate and the history and rituals are correct this is a very informative book. It was very entertaining and have listened to it twice. The end was a little long with more in depth descriptions of the research of the scientist from the book that may not have been needed but it was a plug for personal belief. It was very inciteful and was something that has opened my eyes to new possibilities (in regard to the research)and theorys. I really enjoyed this. Dan brown is a great author.

  • Gripping Story

We love the book series and the story teller. The story grips you right from the very beginning with promises that it will only get better. It refers to the others in the series but set in Washington DC and it is great with all the local color and the buildings and places. Stuff we never even new existed right under our eyes. He does great research on the subject and locations. heck, parts of it should be in the history books. Sorry but I have to run and get back to the story as well as earning more about the capital.

  • The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

I enjoyed the book, and learned alittle about the Masonic brotherhood in the process. This is the book for you if you are interested in architechture, history, and like an interesting plot. The story was well told, and it kept me entertained all through the 14 cd disks. Mr. Brown wrote in great detail about the little known aspects of the layout of Washington DC, and the design of some of the citys' landmarks .
