    A Must Own For Any John Entwistle Fan

    This DVD is a must own for any John Entwistle fan. John shows you his left and right-hand fingering techniques and tricks from tapping with his right hand to hammer-ons with his left. There is a great deal to learn from this video. It is a wonderful video to watch John play but it is not a great instructional tool. Although most of what is shown in the video has been provided in tablature in the booklet that comes with the DVD, the video does not slowly take you through the individual steps to play the parts nor are each section of the video labeled in the booklet. This makes it very difficult to locate in the booklet which part the video is covering. Also there should have been two cameras running and a spilt screen so you could watch his left and right hands playing at the same ...

    Lesson from the one and only John Entwistle

    I start off with the fact that I am an Entwistle fan.I always loved his unique style and the authority he played with in The Who.He advanced the sound an electric bass could make:a true pionner. This video is a great way for an Entwistle fan to see the man in action.I would not recommend this video to a novice or anyone getting started.Honestly, it seems poorly planned and very spur of the moment.Entwistle doesn't seem to have any lesson plan;He rambles on from one thing to the next.You can tell he is using borrowed gear.I think Entwistle was brilliant;but this video was poorly planned. OK,now for the positive points.This is the best(only)way I know you and I can sit down and listen to the legend.You get some very up close views of John at his best.The on screen tab is decent,but the book ...

    Great For What It Is

    Overall this is A Good Product for any Entwistle Fan. Having Said THat it's really not a structed game plan. John was a very good natural musician, who worked (session wise) with some very schooled players, an although he could read, was not really a schooled player himself. There is nothing wrong with that at all, but that also has a great impact on the kind of haphazard approach to this DVD. This is also kinna the flavor of this type od DvD (more a collection of Licks than an actual Lesson or Method). This however is a very good product for what it is and is great way for Entwistle Fans to pick up on Some of John's Technquies. If your looking for a method to Teach You How to Play Bass, don't start here. If you want to pick up a few licks n tricks from one of your favorite Players it's ...

    Cocain Addict Does Not Interview Well, Poor Demonstration, TABs are essential.

    You know those horrible jokes your grandpa makes up, tells over and over, and thinks he's so clever he cracks himself up? Imagine grandpa as a major cocaine addict and a rock star. Entwistle has no grasp that most viewers need things a lot slower. Luckily producers had the intelligence to add slowed and pitch corrected copies and TABs. I can't speak for the accuracy of the TABs yet. It will take a little time to go through them. There is very little information to be gleaned in the interviews. Arlen Roth attempts to pry specific demonstrations out of him, but Entwistle seems preoccupied with starting his next 8 Ball of coke. Prior to the interviews, Entwistle sits solo demonstrating several of his favorite techniques and recounts some of his thoughts, but not enough to get a particularly ...

    John Entwistle Lessons

    This is an excellent DVD for beginners who want to learn from one of the best or veterans who just want some tips. The ability to slow the notes down and still have them at the proper pitch is extremely helpful as is the tuning lesson. There's even a bit of inadvertant comic relief from the host of the show as he spends alot of time simply kissing up to John Entwistle. Pretty funny. If you play bass, or even guitar, you should definately check this out.
