    ANGEL WITH A BULLET: Humor Meets Noir in This Dixie Flynn Mystery

    What's not to love about a noir-ish cozy that contains not just one, not just two, but THREE eBay references? The heroine's mother's friend claims to have bought Pamela Anderson's old implants on eBay; the heroine herself rules out eBay for fencing stolen art; and a security guard claims to have bought his unauthorized gun there (in real life, eBay prohibits the sale of firearms). There are actually many things to love about M.C. Grant's "Angel with a Bullet". It embraces all the hard-boiled noir traditions -- a tough, hard-drinking, wisecracking protagonist, a cynical detective; an atmospheric San Francisco setting -- then turns them upside down and mixes them with the cozy conventions of offbeat supporting characters, personable pets, and a spunky yet vulnerable heroine, crime-beat ...
