The company known for both defining and refining the real-time strategy genre pushes the envelope again with this third full release in its longest-running series. Billed as a "Role-Playing Strategy," Blizzard's WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos offers more than the standard resource management and army building common to contemporary RTS games. Players control smaller parties of troops and heroes who must interact with NPCs and accomplish quests, as well as out-fight and outwit the forces of the enemy. The game's story begins several years after the monumental battle at the end of WarCraft II. Several Orcs were trapped in Azeroth when the Dark Portal was finally destroyed and many have been forced to live as slaves to the humans, who have grown rich and restless in the ensuing years. But tedious manual labor does not come naturally to all Orcs. One such slave, a young Orc named Thrall, feels the warrior spirit burning deep inside his being. He breaks free of captivity and sets off across the countryside, gathering fellow lost Orcs among his ranks. Rising as a powerful leader among these expatriate warriors, Thrall vows to lead Azeroth's Orcs back to the honor and greatness their heritage demands. WarCraft III features four distinct races - Human, Orc, Undead, and Night Elf -- each with its own unique units and special abilities. Manageably small parties of warriors are led by impressive heroes who carry over through the game's missions, bringing further continuity to the storyline. Heroes gain experience as they progress through missions, becoming increasingly powerful as the story moves forward. Special weapons and magic items may also aid the heroes as they fight towards their final destinies. WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos includes a map editor that supports all of the game's tile sets as well as unit scripts and event triggers, allowing inspired gamers to create their own professional-quality adventures. Like all recent Blizzard games, WarCraft III supports multiplayer gaming over the proprietary Battle.net system of servers. In addition to ruthless head-to-head warfare, multiple modes of online play also allow for cooperative team adventuring.

Blizzard's always made masterpieces when it came to games. I've played most of them but persoanlly favor this game the most. Out of any game that I have played, I have invested the most time into this game. The depth orategy is ridiculously deep. The value or melee, ranged, caster units all depend on your own personal flavor. And to add the most novel twist in the game are Hero units. The generals of your army are the most essential units of the game. Growing stronger with more units you kill, their value surpasses anything you own as the game progresses. The storyline is rich, expanding on more than just humans and orcs. There are the two new races of undead and night elf that are just as relevant and important in the Warcraft plotline. The ladder provides motivation for competitive gamers and custom games allow for more recreational play as well as giving a medium for players to CREATE games. As for the Collector's Edition, blizzard has outdone themselves with the extras. The Art of Warcraft covers art from the first and second installments and of course, Warcraft III. The lithographs of the four races are excellent, showing details from beads of sweat to individual hairs. The soundtrack fits the settings that the game creates. The Collector's manual is just a different cover with an autographed back fromd developers. The Cinematic DVD is perfect for fans that want to relive the moments in Warcraft I and II. Replying the beatiful cinematics remind you of the work that Blizzard puts behind their cinematics, not missing any detail and doing their best to not sell themselves short.

Arrived early in excellent condition for its age
I was surprised when I found this, and extremelly excited when I saw it was a sealed copy. I ordered it immediately. It arrived earlier than expected, in excellent shape. The shrink wrap was a bit torn but considering it was released in 2002, I'm happy it was even still sealed! Very happy with my purchase.

I Bought This Game Because My Friends And I Enjoyed It Very Much And Spent Any Hours Playing Together.
