Product Information

In an effort to appeal to all types of gamers, Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is designed to be a new experience that shows a darker side of the cuddly purple dragon. With an attack system designed to make use of four elements (earth, fire, ice, and electricity), Spyro can now abandon his patented head-butt assault and chain together 12 different attacks for nearly irresistible destruction. Players can upgrade the elemental assaults over the course of the game, and use the "Fury" attack to clear enemies from a large area. The gems that were currency in the last few games can now be used to recharge life, breath, and the "Fury" gauge. Different enemies are more vulnerable to certain attacks, while they brush off others as mere annoyances. For example, a lava monster won't mind a fiery attack as much as a shot of ice in the eye. Sparx, Spyro's dragonfly companion, takes a more involved role in A New Beginning, and a handful of Hollywood actors voice characters in the game.

A little overpriced maybe
The game isn’t as good as I remember it being as a kid, but it’s still fun. However I don’t think it’s worth any more than maybe $6

The legend begins
This reboot of the Spyro series by Activision is beautiful. The first of three games in the series: Use new combat attacks with platform features to save the world, and stop the manipulated puppet of the Dark Master, Cynder from resurrecting his vile return.

A sad, repetitive, boring sequel to a once amazing series.
As a huge fan of Spyro, I played the original Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, and Spyro: Enter the Dragon Fly. I recently purchased A Hero's Tail as well as this game, hoping that one of them would remind me of when I started playing but not be too repetitive from the first games. I have yet to receive A Hero's Tail, but after starting this game, I knew it wasn't worth it. Sparx, which I knew as a armless, legless dragonfly who only buzzed, has become an unfunny, sarcastic, boring nag who complains about everything. "Training" is useless, as the only attacks you really use will be basic ones because they'll all you'll have time for. The battles are repetitive, as well as long. One of the first bosses comes back three times in order to defeat ... Overall, the game only deserves stars because Spyro is a classic, and this game does get the fact that he's a dragon correct. I would not recommend buying this, even if you are curious about what happened to little Spyro, as you will soon feel the confusion I'm currently feeling. Maybe I just miss the horrible graphics.

Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning - I recommend!
My kids, ages 5 and 6, love this game! It was easy for them to figure out - it could be considered somewhat violent since you do have to go around and kill things but there's no blood and it's not like you're doing it to be nasty - mostly self-defense. Adults may find the game a little boring compared to what's out there right now but I've found the Spyro series to be well liked by kids between 5 and 10.My kids, ages 5 and 6, love this game!
