A very different Rambo than portrayed in the movies, "First Blood."
I met David Morrell on a flight that I made while still a Marine, back from Vietnam, in 1972. We had a very interesting conversation about a new book that he had just written, "First Blood." The book was inspired by the conflict that America had in dealing with its own war with our involvement in Vietnam, and with the inner war that our servicemen felt when they returned from that war. The book differed from the movies a great deal, because both Rambo and Chief Teasle are "heroes and villians", dealing with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress disorder. Rambo kills many, many people, wipes out almost an entire town, before both he and Teasle are killed in the end. I think that the book version is much better than the movies "First Blood", the characters are more realistic especially ... Every person serving in the military in those years has tasted the rejection we felt coming home and can identify with the characters of Rambo and Chief Teasle in some way. This book is an old favorite, having first read it in 1973, then re-reading it twice within the last few weeks.

You cannot go wrong by reading this book. Easy read, serious, compelling, exciting, classic story of man verses the machine, It all begins here!!! THE VERY FIRST CHAPTER OF RAMBO!!! You will not be disappointed.

First Blood. Must Read!
A fan of the Rambo movies just like a large percentage of movie goers. After hearing a book was written taht resulted in First Blood being made, I had to read. What you see in the movie compares to nothing to what you read in the book. The action and suspense in the book was on edge. After finsihing the book, you can see why this book was turned into a movie/franchise.
