Whew......It's Normal!!
I purchased this book out of desperation. My 6 3/4 year old had slowly turned from an affectionate and very active little boy to a very reserved, much less friendly little man. The information in this book explained the developmental phase my son was going through. What a relief! Once I understood, it was so much easier to take...and I no longer worried. If I had to summarize the book for another parent of a 7-year-old, I would say: Just hang on till your child is eight. Things will return to normal. Within just a month or two of reading the book, my little guy begun to open up, talk more (again) and become affectionate again (even in public, from time to time). I cannot know if I should attribute his change to whether he's competed finished this 7-year-old phase, or to my letting ... I purchased this book out of desperation. What happens AFTER the toddler years?
What happens AFTER the toddler years? A couple years ago, I was looking for anything to help me with my 4 year old, and I came across these books by Louise Bates Ames. It's a small enough book to read in 1-2 nights, but it does help with what you should expect in development, attitudes, personalities, & problems that you may have in the year with your child. I recommend the entire series... year by year. (I pick it up by her birthday- IT HELPS WITH THE BIRTHDAY PARTIES TOO)What happens AFTER the toddler years?
