Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh explores the relationship between flamboyant pianist Liberace (played by Michael Douglas) and his long-term partner, Scott Thorson (Matt Damon), in this Warner Bros. biopic based on Thorson's best-selling memoirs. An pianist with a playful flair for showmanship, Liberace was a beloved entertainer when, in the summer of 1977, he began a five-year love affair with the much-younger Thorson. Though on the surface the pair couldn't have seemed more different, the y quickly established an intimate bond that would take Thorson on a wild ride through the glamorous world of showbusiness while revealing a side of his talented older lover that few had glimpsed before. Rob Lowe, Dan Aykroyd, Scott Backula, and Debbie Reynolds co-star. A considerable hit when it premiered on HBO in May of 2013, BEHIND THE CANDELABRA impressed at the 2013 Emmy Awards by taking home trophies for Best Mini-Series or TV Movie, Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie (Michael Douglas), and Best Directing, Mini-Series or TV Movie.

    music music music beautiful music

    Hi to all readers. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed the movie as we used to love Liberace on stage. The man lived for his music. I expected more music, but true to say that the other side of his private life which was brought forward by two brilliant actors. Being a musician, I caught Michael out singing on stage with his microphone much too far from him to be real, especially bearing in mind the 70's technology. Beautiful costumes, a happy/sad true story AND I have again started purchasing Liberace's dvd's. SO ! here you are guys. Sylvio.

    Remarkable movie

    I watched Liberace Behind the Music and this movie. This movie is just as good as Behind the Music except it didn't have the sex scenes or Foul Language like this movie did. In my Opinion both Michael and Matt was extremely outstanding playing their roles as Liberace and Scott. I truly love and cherish this movie, it definitely keeper.

    Too much of a good thing, IS WONDERFUL! --{HIGHLY RECOMMEND}!

    I bought Behind the Candelabra because when I saw it on HBO I literally fell in love with it, and getting the DVD only furthered my passion for it. Liberace --the most [extraordinary] controversial man to ever live-- I find it so interesting to learn about him. AND not to mention MATT DAMON IS IN THIS MOVIE YES!! (Big Matt Damon fan here) Michael Douglas was spot on with his performance of Lee and Matt couldn't of made Scott's role more real and emotional, this movie is a perfect mix of laughter, tears and heartache. I love this movie, and would recommend it to everyone, except not as a after dinner, family night with the young kids, [Mature audiences definitely All in all it was a perfect buy, I'm so happy I did, and I will continue to watch this movie, never will it get old. I must also ...

    this is one gutsy performance by Matt and Michael Douglas

    Whoa ! . . I tip my hat to Matt ; letting himself be kissed by Michael Douglas, who plays the Queen. . . . . . and SNL who in my estimation was first with male-on-male kissing scenes on commercial TV !
