"This compelling story sheds a bright, shining light into the world of animal emotions and the powerful bonds forged between animals and humans. A heartfelt journey of life and love with one of nature's wild creatures,Wesley the Owlis a must-read story of faith, compassion, and selfless devotion." -- Jay Kopelman, author ofFrom Baghdad,With LoveandFrom Baghdad to America, "Stacey O'Brien tells the intriguing story of how her life was changed and rearranged when she attempted to tame and raise Wesley -- a barn owl. Fascinating!"-- Stanley Coren, psychologist and author ofHow Dogs ThinkandWhy Does My Dog Act That Way?, "This fun book reminded me ofMarley & Me, but with wings. • A must read!

Stacey O'Brien's (true) book has opened my eyes to the wonder of these glorious birds. It's a love story with a wealth of scientific information as well. Stacey was asked, when working at MIT in California, if she would consider taking care of a tiny infant barn owl that was rescued. It had an injured wing and would never be able to live in the wild on it's own. She had Wesley for 19 years and their bond was so strong. I don't want to spoil much of it, but trust me, you will enjoy this book! I've bought copies for my friends and they thoroughly enjoy it as well. Kudos to the author for her dedication to the cause of these beautiful and intelligent birds!

  • A great read....especially for an animal lover

I love and respect animals. I was never specifically interested in owls, but since I am an animal lover I went ahead and read this book. The book kept my interest and I found myself amazed by some of the things that I learned about Wesley the owl (and other animals). Even though the book is written by a scientist, she explains things in a manner that are easy for everyone to understand. I really enjoyed the book as it was descriptive and I feel like I have learned quite a bit from this book. There were quite a few pictures of Wesley as well. Glad I purchased this book.

  • Animal Lovers should read this book, a must read!

For anyone who has enjoyed the unbelievable bond with an animal, this book is most enjoyable. Stacey and Wesley go through life with all its ups and downs, supporting one another, comforting one another, and loving each other. Funny, emotional, and sad are all the feelings you will experience. Read it you won't be disappointed.

  • Absolute Must Read!!

This is an amazing story! I absolutely loved it! I laughed and cried. I know that Barn Owls are amazing creatures. We have nesting barn owls on our property, thats why I purchased the book. But this is an amazing story that shows the true depth and character of owls (for anyone who even thinks they might like animals or birds or owls in particular!) :-) I'm jealous, Stacey ;-) Arlene (sugarsmom)

  • Well worth reading.

    Good story.
