À propos de ce produit
Product Information
A unique monster-under-the-bed story with the perfect balance of giggles and shivers, this picture book relies on the power of humor over fear, appeals to a child's love for creatures both alarming and absurd, and glorifies the scope of a child's imagination. One night, when Ethan checks under his bed for his monster, Gabe, he finds a note from him instead: "Gone fishing. Back in a week." Ethan knows that without Gabe's familiar nightly scares he doesn't stand a chance of getting to sleep, so Ethan interviews potential substitutes to see if they've got the right equipment for the job--pointy teeth, sharp claws, and a long tail--but none of them proves scary enough for Ethan. When Gabe returns sooner than expected from his fishing trip, Ethan is thrilled. It turns out that Gabe didn't enjoy fishing because the fish scared too easily. Last night I read 'I need my monster' to my Mummy. I thought it was a really clever story and I really liked the pictures. I particularly liked the bit where Gabe said 'I'd like to nibble your pinky'. I really enjoyed this story and so I will definitely tell my friends about this book at school tomorrow but I would not like my own monster under my bed because it would mean I could not get out of bed!" - Reviewed by Annabel aged 6 on whatsgoodtodo.com November 2011, "The same kids who loved Neil Gaiman'sThe Wolves in the Wallsare sure to appreciateI Need My Monstertoo. Then their teacher gave their drawings to the family and consumer science high school teacher and told her 3rd grade class that their monsters ran away. The high school teacher had her entrepreneurship class create these monsters using everything from hot glue guns to sewing machines to learn skills that they would use in the fashion industry. Afterwards, they got to surprise the 3rd grade class with toy-versions of their monsters to keep under their beds."-- Times Daily, "Dramatic in perspective, McWilliam's exaggerated, digitally colored art renders the monsters in a spectrum of neon hues and outlandish shapes.
