I use them everywhere
I now have 5 amazon echo dots so that i can use them throughout our home to control the lighting throughout our house. Obviously I've had to invest in far more than just the 5 echo dots to make the lighting and music control possible but it's been worth it, especially for the whole home music control features.

I love Alexa dot!
I love Alexa dot! This is the handiest tool & I use it about as much as my smart phone! Plus "she" does a quite few things my smart phone can't, thanks to the hands free feature!

This is my second dot. Wish I had a bigger house. I'd get more. I have both 1st and 2nd gen dots and I think I like the "twist" volume 1st gen better. I like it's slightly heavier feel. I've ordered some alexa enabled light bulbs and switches that should be here tomorrow. My aging parents are gonna love playing with their lights by voice command.

Great item and easy to set up
The Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation works really well! I used it to play my music when I am doing something in the house and my hands are dirty to touch things. I just have her find the music and stations I want to here and she plays it for me just with my voice. I also can get me some information when I need it like the weather or the news. It really learns fast as long as you add the programs you want it learn. Sometimes if it too loud in the house it won't hear my voice if I am from a certain distance from it, but other than that it is fantastic to have in my house. : )The Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation works really well! You won't be disappointed.
I already have the Amazon Echo so this was just an additional one for my office. I think these gadgets are great. Set alarms, timers, get your local weather and who won the game last night. It can do too many things for me to list. It's great for everything however not great for music.
