À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Despite what its main character might say, this point-and-click Sherlock Holmes mystery adventure from Ubisoft is anything but "elementary." Players begin by guiding the quintessential detective (and his faithful companion, Dr. Watson) through a large, interactive re-creation of a late-19th century mansion. It seems the mansion's owner has just turned up dead. The murder investigation leads through the streets of London, and on to such distant destinations as India, and even Brazil.

Players must search for clues and speak with witnesses in each location, paying close attention to details as they try to piece together the big picture. The game follows an original storyline inspired by the works of the sleuth's creator, Arthur Conan Dolye. Secret of the Silver Earring was developed by Frogwares, whose previous graphic-adventure credits include Journey to the Center of the Earth, inspired by the Jules Verne novel, and Mystery of the Mummy, another Sherlock Holmes game.

  • It's Not So Elementary My Dear!

Engaging story line and interesting graphics. Tests one's own powers of perception and deduction. However, one may want to have some cheats in front of them as certain functions are not always obvious, such as collecting evidence of white powder in a testube kept in the inventory (most persons would assume a liquid would go in a testube, I'd think). Also, the movements of the characters are not always consistent to the command---they rarely run when you double-click, but at times will. Also the feet icon not always point you in the obvious direction of movement. For instance, in order to turn a corner in a room, you may have to position the cursor on top of a sofa to get the directional feet icon to pop up, but the character does not climb over the sofa. Great fun if you have the ...

  • Good but not Perfect

I liked the find, combine and use puzzles but did not like the timed problems. The time-limits were brief and your movement of the mouse had to be exact. The mouse movements were uneven and jerky making it nearly impossible to complete the time-limted puzzles/problems unless you got lucky. The dialog was very good and reasonably authentic sounding. The story line was excellent and very much like a Sherlock Holmes novel. The graphics were good and clear as well. Overall, it was fun, but would have been more so if the timed puzzles weren't so frustrating.

  • Unfortunate bug- probably known by seller

This was a great deal, and I like mystery/riddle games so I thought I'd try it. With regards to the great deal, I got most of the way through the first sectioon when I encountered a game-stopping bug. I looked online & discovered some of the "Silver Earring" games were found to have it, but not all- so if you're looking to buy it you should be ok.... however, mine had been opened so I'm sure the seller knew this and never mentioned(of course!!) in his description that the game was bugged and could not be finished. However, the $6 wasn't worth the negative feedback I'm sure he would've left. With regards to the game, it is amusing, but there is gated content, lots and LOTS of pixel-hunting for clues, and you may need to speak to characters ...

  • Great Game!

I am not a video/pc game player, but I bought the game The Silver Earring because I am a Sherlock Holmes fan and collector. I decided to play the game and found it very fun & entertaining and enjoyed the game throughout. The plot was good and the levels innovative. I did finish the game aleit with the help of a walkthrough (alas, I am no gamer!).

  • Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Silver Earring

I enjoy playing interactive, thinking games similar to Agatha Christie and Nancy Drew. I bought this to play and keep my mind thinking. It keeps you thinking and the graphics are pretty good. Other games I enjoy playing are the Agatha Christie ones and the Nancy Drew ones. These all have similarities and are fun to play.
